Far from the typical cargo theft operation that can target shipments worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, two cargo thieves arrested in Utah were after a significantly lower value target than most: ice cream. The theft of such a low-value item might not generally get such a quick response, but these two thieves made it especially easy to track them down – they were live-streaming the whole thing.
Two teenagers recently broke in to a refrigerated truck and stole some ice cream. While doing so however, they decided to live-stream the whole experience over the Periscope App. A viewer who saw the crime taking place contacted the authorities who were able to use the video to track them down and arrest them.
When the police confronted the boys about their crime, they confessed and told the authorities that after they had broken in to the truck, they had placed whole tubs of ice cream on the front porches of nearby houses randomly as a gift.
Both boys were referred to juvenile court on charges of burglary and theft.

We’ve entered a world where the only way crooks get caught are when they’re stupid enough to put themselves on “TV” in the act.
Since they were juvies, and they gave their loot as gifts to their neighbors, they’ll probably just get a slap on the wrist.
