Daimler Trucks North America has issued a notice that 2,386 of its trucks will be recalled to due braking issues. The recall notice was published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, on Wednesday, but the recall won’t begin until May 25th.
According to the notice, the problem is occurring in some 2015 year model Cascadia, Coronado, Business Class M2, SD108, and 122SD vehicles. Apparently, there is a possible issue with the Haldex Life Seal Brake Chambers installed in the trucks.
If the diaphragms were incorrectly installed, it may cause brakes to drag and result in a driver losing control over the vehicle.
Daimler says that the owners of affected vehicles will be contacted and that dealers will be able to replace the brake chambers for no charge.

What happens since I have a problem with it now?Any ideas?
ah? brake lightly on turns on mountains roads, i have a 2014 Cascadia and it grabs slips at times when loaded and stops, the shop says they can’t do nothing for it : (
Pray I suppose.
Take it to the dealer. I’m sure they’ll take care of it. The recall is probably put off so they can get stock in for many of these chambers that need to be replaced.
I’ve been having an issue since we got our M2 the middle of 2014, you hit a vibration in the roadway and the parking brake pops on! Been to the Dealer many times and they can’t replicate the issue. I assume this is the fix for it?
Doesn’t surprise me our truck has manual mode disabled too. This truck is dangerous! All to save a few cpm.
Come back and tell us what happened at the dealers. You get the brakes fixed? What’s the difference with them before and after the repairs? Good luck.
To hell with your safety.
How about you take it in and they lease you a safe truck
My new Freightliner was built near Mexico City and is pretty well built except for a couple of issues like air leaks where the “plug and play” plastic air lines enter the air bags. The tortilla warmer works great 🙂
This looks like a Haldex issue…typical…underpaid workers at parts vendor plants but all manufacturers from Diamler to GM buy from the cheapest.
Where were the brake chambers assembled? China? Mexico?
Now that it is out in the open and everybody including DOT knows, just how many of these trucks will get put out of service before the recall starts. I guess DOT will just look the other way and wait for some one to have a wreck so they can blame the whole industry for brake problems.
Brake cans are not new to the industry, just some of the cheap labor used to manufacture these parts are new. This shows cheaper is not always better.
