Last September, an investigation launched into a CDL testing facility in New York ended in the arrests of 19 people who were charged with selling answers to the exam. In total 8 ringleaders, 8 test takers, and 3 security guards were arrested. Those 19 people lead investigators to 21 more people who used their services to cheat on their CDL exams. Not all drivers were taking Class A tests – the cheaters hauled everything from hazmat to children on school buses.
“We entrust the operators of these vehicles to safely bring children to and from school,” said Inspector General Catherine Leahy Scott. “We count on them to navigate very busy transportation networks without getting into catastrophic accidents. Test cheating puts innocent people at grave risk and cannot be tolerated.”
The scheme was ludicrously simple. The test takers would receive the exam in the DMV testing area, leave the building, hand the test to one of the eight test takers who would fill out the correct answers, and then take the completed exam back to the testing area to be handed in for grading. The cheaters would pay around $4,000 each to be split up amongst those involved in the scheme.
According to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., all 21 defendants are being charged with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, false statements, and alteration of records for allegedly cheating on their CDL exams.

E-Logs would have fixed it. No need to properly train or pass the test! Just puttem on E-Logs, O yeah and turn an inward facing camera on’em, That should save 17 lives a year! LOL!!! What a bunch of morons.
Put the tests on computer rather than on paper. Test to be taken in the faculty in an enclosed and secure area.
I agree Don. We have both here in Mass, and usually a trooper is patrolling the room, and also cell phones and books are not allowed in the area either.
Passing the academic portion of the test is the easiest… The fact that people have to cheat this portion means they are either too lazy, of too stupid (or both) to be behind the wheel. what a damn shame that people have stepped so low. I would say that this is a sad day for commercial drivers… But I doubt this is an isolated incident.
cdl test are easy…as long as you have common sense! think about the question! most of them are multiple choice with answer right there! common sense will tell you the answer! never failed yet
