A savvy truck driver has avoided falling victim to a possible scam being run in Pennsylvania. Police in Lehigh County are looking for the potential scammer after the driver’s air hose had been intentionally cut and the “good Samaritan” had offered to help him fix it… for a fee.
The driver, Norman Gingras, had parked his truck in the parking lot of a convenience store. When he returned and started to leave, he could hear that there was an air leak coming from his truck. When he climbed out to examine the damage, a man in a white U-Haul van that was parked next to him offered to help him fix it – he even had the parts he needed in the back on the van.
The man gave Gingras two phone numbers to call so that he could start the repairs, but Gingras turned down the man’s offer and continued inspecting the air hose. When he discovered that it looked as though it had been cut on purpose, he notified the staff inside who called the police. The man fled before the police could arrive.
Upon inspecting the hose, police came to the same conclusion that Gingras had – the hose had been deliberately cut. They are currently looking for the man in the van who has been described as a six foot, 250 pound white man in his late 50s with salt and pepper hair and dark-rimmed glasses.

I hope they catch him.
I hope a few truckers catch him first. then turn him over to police.
Very dumb scheme. Cutting a brake hose could be construed in court as attempted murder.
“six foot, 250 pound white man in his late 50s with salt and pepper hair and dark-rimmed glasses.”
Now there’s a guy that shouldn’t be to hard to find!
Mike, doncha mean turn over what’s left to the cops?
