A trucker has been sentenced to 63 years in prison after he caused an accident which took the life of three people including a 2-year old girl. At his trial, families of the victims called the trucker a “disgrace to humanity,” “scum,” “a monster,” and “a gutless coward” among other things.
Jack Edward Satterfield III, a 29-year-old truck driver from Mississippi, pled guilty to multiple charges including three counts of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence, three counts of vehicular homicide, and three counts of leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
It was October 12th, 2018, and Satterfield was driving on I-83 in Lower Paxton Township, PA. The traffic in front of him had stopped due to construction. Satterfield failed to stop his truck, and slammed into the vehicles in front of him.
Zachary Lybrand, 24, his 2-year-old daughter Elliana, and 22-year-old Ethan Van Bochoven were all killed. Nine other vehicles were involved in the crash and seven other people were injured.
Satterfield fled the scene of the crash by climbing through the window of his truck, running across the highway to a nearby hotel, and watching the scene from the parking lot. Police questioned him when they dispersed a crowd that had gathered and saw him limping away.
Satterfield told police that he had been drinking. He had consumed five double-shot margaritas and two or three beers. When police gave him a breathalyzer test, he blew a .152%, significantly over the .08% limit. He was also driving without a valid license. His CDL had been suspended following a guilty plea to drug-possession charges.
During his plea hearing, Satterfield’s lawyer read aloud a letter that his client had written.
“I’m far from a monster the DA and the news media have made me out to be,” Satterfield wrote according to PennLive. “This guilt is overwhelming. I am sorry from the bottom of my soul.”
Dauphin County Judge Deborah E. Curcillo sentenced him to 63 years in prison, with the possibility of parole after 28.5 years.

Im a truck driver but there is no excuse for this it is beyond my ability to believe he could get into a truck in that condition and drive no your not a monster he is worst my prayers and best wishes to all that have suffered and lost of life. Well he can have a long time to think about what an idiot he is again so sorry for all that have lost and are suffering
How do we stop a guy like this from climbing into a semi he or a friend owns and driving without a license? How do we enforce periodic drug and alcohol testing on owner operators.
Why wasn’t this man’s truck confiscated along with the license revocation? That, at least, would have slowed him down.
Don, I am guessing that you are a company man. An owner operator like him if he was an owner operator got what he justly deserved. I agree he should never have been behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler. But like an owner operator a company man is just as guilty of such crimes. You will hear more about owner-operators breaking laws then you will company, the sad fact of Truth is there are more company than owner operators and the companies sweep these crimes under the rug and keep the public from hearing of their crimes. The newsfeed above did not say if he was company or owner operator so either way regardless as I do agree with you he is guilty and should never have been behind the wheel. My personal opinion someone like him should you never ever have a driver’s license of any level.
Total and complete BS! It takes all kinds company or not. As far as testing, we must and do belong to a consortium to be drug tested JUST LIKE ANY COMPANY DRIVER! In addition, we tend to be pulled into weigh Stations more because they’re hoping to catch us on small violations. Before you post something like that, KYS!!
Drug testing being forced upon anyone by the government is a clear violation of the fourth amendment, maybe you want to live in Soviet Russia but some of us still believe in the freedoms that this great nation were founded on.
You enter into an agreement that stipulates you consent to drug and alcohol testing when you get a drivers license. It is considered an implied consent that you agree to when you enter into a states driver license program.
Driving is a privilege, not a right, and it is controlled by the states as they issue the license.
There is no violation of 4th amendment. You agreed to wave that right with implied consent.
Are you sure about that? A CDL, like any driver license, is a privilege, NOT a right.
If he was a company driver witch I doubt he was he wouldn’t be behind the wheel of a tractor trailer with a company as a company driver so it had to be a owner operator eather way he needs to spend ALL 63 years in prison
I totally agree company’s will sweep these things under the rug in most cases
How do you know this was an O/O? I didn’t see anything in the article to indicate such. O/O’s are drug tested. Where the hell have you been? I’m randomly tested all the time.
What about the weight stations they run your cdl everytime you go into a scale house
No, they don’t. Most times you’re rolled through. Only if overweight, or an obvious issue is observed by the manning officer, or a random pull in, do they check your info. 90% of the time, you roll on through.
Don’t know where you’ve been? But in 35 yrs. of sticking, they’ve always checked my license everytime I’ve had to go inside for anything. Little trick they have is to ticket you if you don’t have the change of address card on the back of your license until your new one comes in if you’ve recently moved. They bring you in to check everything inncluded ELD as they run your CDL & ask you what system you’re on as your log instantly in real time pops up as they ‘observe’ you.
Or you’re pulling a hazmat or oversize load. You have to stop & go inside.
In addition, any driver that’s been on the road for a while or has a GPS or uses their phone can find a route around scale houses.
Not true you don’t just roll on threw any scales you never when you will be pulled in no matter what new trucks or old trucks you do get pulled in
Not true you don’t just roll on threw any scales you never know what new trucks or old trucks you get pulled in
The cameras that alert the press’s also takes a snap of the tractor licenses. I was told that by a DOT officer in NM scale. We were pulled in because we had the registration paper in the wind shield and the camera couldn’t see it.
Not every time I’ve been in weigh stations more than a few times and not be asked for my license.
no they do not unless you are pulled around for an inspection
Yea really. What the hell they mean turning this into a o/o fault. Its his fault all by himself.I have never driven anything dui.
Them you must look like a loser lol
his cdl was suspended lol the company would know about that.
Theres a lot that c was n be done. Mandatory random drug and alcohol testing are part of being a truck driver. How he got into a truck without a valid license is beyond my comprehension. Unfortunately in the trucking industry, there are a minute few who behave like this. Sickens me that some fool put this man behind the wheel.
Gee I didn’t see anywhere that he owned the truck. I’m guessing you aren’t a trucker or else a union driver on a xtra board.
💣😂😂😂👍
Gee I didn’t see anywhere that he owned the truck. I’m guessing you aren’t a trucker or else a union driver on a xtra board. Very sad that people were killed and injured. Very sad the driver if he gets out in 28.5 years will not be able to support himself his life is over also. He will have a long time to regret his actions. Sad for everyone even the readers are upset over this senseless act.
You are so right Lester. It hurts my heart for all those injured and killed but a two year old whose life had just begun is far far beyond sad. He deserved life but when you say life in prison even out side he will be in prison. It’s called Memory Prison.
I was the top driver at a company I worked for back in the 1990’s and no one knew at that time I was a party boy once I got home. I stayed out on the road for five weeks and got a week off each time I did. It took a situation where even though I was going the posted speed limit I had to slam on brakes so hard because of debris in the lane the truck jackknifed. That made me THEN realize that accidents are just that, accidents, and no matter whether it my fault or not I WAS going to prison for a long time if I seriously killed or maimed anyone. Had any car been near me it would have gotten wiped out. I got my act together with no one ever suspecting anything. This guy was not as lucky.
good for you Bruce I myself have not had a drink in years even at home because as safe as I am all it takes is for someone to hit me and I will get incarcerated also because I have a cdl license and I need my job more than I need a drink. I will not take the chance.
I feel the same way. It doesnt matter your fault there fault. Act of God. You will always wonder. Insurance companies need to play a bigger role in making sure rules are followed. They have the most to loose and you can bet. The truck and driver will pass muster if the insurance are in charge of safty. Its horrible how truckers are treared. They are responsible for everything right down to paying guys to unload the truck. Greed is the problem. A guy once offered me one week on and one week off. The week I worked. 2000.00. How dumb was I I tried to do it
All my self and after a few weeks I was a wreck. I promise company dispatch and brokers are the problem. If a driver felt likehe was being forced to drive unsafe. What is he to do quit. Refuse andnever get a decent load again. What if the driver had a open line to the insurance company so he could tell his side. Its not right to keep blaming everything on the driver you can bet atleast one person is riding him. The problem is drivers have no one to hold others accountable.
Luck has nothing to do with anything.
The law ( and common sense)
require a driver to maintan control of their vehical at ALL times.
A professional driver goes millions of miles without accidents.
Many of us have never had an accident.
If you have accidents, you should change career.
If you drink or use, and you drive, you are a criminal.
If you kill someone while driving, you are a murderer.
@Darren Thatcher: “Many of us have never had an accident.
If you have accidents, you should change career.’
Based on YOUR rant your saying that if a four wheeler cuts you off and slams on the brakes causing you to hit their car the driver should change careers. Turn off Fox News dude and get out of that truck and try breathing some fresh air. Oh, by the way, when you back into a loading dock you never thought about the fact that you just hit something, did you?
Darren sounds like the type of person that hit everything and never reported it I know 30 plus yrs vets that hit something in their life time no one is perfect but Darren the swift diver is lol hes best in class lol lol
Under the Constitution You just can’t take a person property. He could have hired a driver to run his truck. Once you start taking people’s rights away and or confiscating property then when does the government stop? How about if they take a person truck because that person owes back taxes? The government is bad enough on taking away our rights now. The only way to stop this would to have breathalyzers installed in every rig and every commercial airline and every train and bus. I do understand your point and something needs to be done to stop this crap. I night I was on call to do a line run and I got the call that there was no work for the night. So I had my dinner and two beers. 30 minutes later I get a call from my DAD, “Dumb A-; Dispacher”
He said that a driver got hurt on dock while putting freight into his trailer and I needed to get to the ASAP to take his run for the night. I told him that I just had two beers because you just told me there was No Work for the night. He freaks out and tells me that he Never told me there was no work for night! He then call the manager and tells him the lies about saying telling me no work. Now the manager calls me and starts in about drinking before work knowing that I was on call before clearing me off duty-no work. Tells me that two beers is nothing and that I needed to go out on the run! I told NO, under the law I cannot drive for 8 hours now! He argues back that I will be ok in two hours!! I still said No and it’s my CDL and my life and career on the line!! Then the manager calls H-R department and that person starts in on me for drinking two beers in 30 minutes! I was eating a Big burrito with some hot salsa on it! He also tells me it’s ok to Drive!! That again I will be just fine in two hours!! I tell him that I cannot drive for 8 hours or 4 hours according to the Feds! He then asked me how I got this information? Did I read it off the internet? I said no it’s right there in writing in the Federal motor safety regulations book!! I was driving for Con-Way Freight at the time. Safety is there number one in the core values of the company right? But only when it’s convenient for them as soon as it is an inconvenience they look the other way! Fools that did not know their job!! I worked there for 15 years and left for 5 and came back in 2009 and no one in management knew anything about me except for upper management in the corporate office and some regional managers. Anyway the manager and H-R plus DAD made me out to be wrong and I got a written letter in my file for not being ready for work! I was ready until I was told No Work! Don’t blame me because someone else gets hurt and next time wait until the dock is shut down before you tell me No Work!! All said done the letter was torn up and DAD and the other two got a lesson on alcohol and driving!!! So glad I don’t work there anymore!
You did the right thing standing your ground. Need more drivers like you. All it takes is one accident you will lose everything you worked hard for. The dispatcher loses nothing.
you were on call and you had beers with dinner? you made your own bed and should have been fired.
I agree. Whatever you do on your “off duty time” is your business. When it’s time to work, better be sober.
Are you working right now? If not drink a few beers and and CHILL OUT!! sounds like ancient history and you’re carrying on like it happened five minutes ago. So what’s your point exactly? You think his “DAD” made him do it? You lost me in that rant.or did you get lost in it too because I don’t see any relevance to the article?
Regardless of 2-2. Alcohol is still in your system even though the effects may be gone. If that ConWay driver was to get in a incident, there are no accidents, someone is always at fault. He would have blown something. CDL holders have to blow a 0.0000000000000 Period… We cannot have anything in our system. Cuttos to that driver for refusing to drive. I’m a CDL driver and by the grace of God I haven’t had an accident or ticket in 30 years of driving. I have a couple of beers on my hometime and everyone knows that I won’t even drive down to the store if I’ve had one sip. It’s my lively hood and keeps food on the table. Not worth loosing.
Good for you had a similar situation with J.B. Hunt best of luck I’m good now but your correct on the federal mandate and your honest take care
We are subject to a random drug and alcohol.24/7/365 if you possess a cdl you have to be registered in random screening program
Hi, I am an owner-operator and am in agreement with your sentiments. An easy ( but due to the stupidity of federal regulators ILLEGAL ) tactic would be the REQUIREMENT of mandatory hair sample testing for drug use. As far as alcohol testing, my sentiments are if you flunk ANY random alcohol test by testing positive, the driver should have his commercial license popped for a minimum of 3-5 years. THIS WOULD RID THE ROADS OF MOST BAD ACTORS. MY NAME IS Jeff DeBauche and I have held a CDL for nearly 44 years. My sympathies to the families this damned fool destroyed.
If your license gets suspended are they gonna take your car? Don’t think so
If the company is ran correctly it is required to take a random drug test. But not all truck drivers are bad. Regular car drivers can be just as bad. This is coming from a 19 year veteran of the highway with over a million miles accident and ticket free.
How do you know for sure he was an owner operator, when I read the story there was nothing mentioned of him being an owner operator.
He might have been a company driver for some hole in the wall company that hadn’t done the yearly up date on his license yet, the companies are not notified of the bat that the drivers license was suspended, he might have just had them suspended recently.
Twenty minutes under water would have been better
That is a very stupid comment,
I am at a loss of words here. RIP and may God bless, have grace and mercy.
Should have gotten the death penalty
Substance abuse is a killer. Maybe this sentence will deter others. Sad people and courts don’t recognize and treat the real problem, which is substance abuse and addiction.
Your correct.while situations like these are tragic so is the lack of understanding about addictions or worse the complete lack of compassion for the addict. This is one of the few civilized nations that would rather punish an addict instead of helping them.Intervention in this case could have saved lives…instead people are dead and that young man’s life is ruined…no winners.
Wonder if his family knew he was a hazard to the public?
Unfortunately it’s too late for sorry. You reap what you sew!
Unfortunately with this new age of everybody using different substance this is going to continue until trucking companies start mandating regular drug and alcohol testing until that time happens we going to keep on hearing about accidents like this sad as it may be.
Unfortunately, he was sentenced to prison time. However, his victims were not given a fair choice because they received instant death. This is not fair to their families.
I am still constantly amazed that we have all these laws in place and yet, we do so little to enforce them. I hear of and know peoples who have had 6, 7, 8 or more DUI’s and they’re still walking the streets and even driving. Why? After 8 DUI’s and he kills someone, doesn’t a bell go off? Like maybe he should have done some serious prison time after the 3rd or 4th DUI? Our nation is like a pussy parent, “Little Johnnie, don’t do that” and little Johnnie does it again, and…….the parent does nothing but says, “Johnnie, don’t do that”. Everybody knows what’s going to happen and, with DUI’s, some innocent person eventually gets killed, and we wonder why it had to happen. Maddening. Maddening.!!
To Kc, I wonder how many times you have Reaped what you’ve sewn. It’s hilarious to me in a christian nation how people can be so judgemental. Until you are 100% perfect, I would say comments like this are unnecessary. There have been a mental problem or an array of events that led up to the mans poor decision, (which I’m sure you’ve made perfect decisions completely just and correct all your life without fail). Its horrible the people were killed and he was such a fool but foolish comments such as, “you reap what you sew” are just inherently inflammatory and sub-intelligent. How many times have you “Kc” cut off a truck in traffic? I’m sure dozens. Enjoy your day!
I really don’t know how he sleeps at night, maybe that sentence will send a message out to other Trucker’s…My thought go out to the Family..May God comfort you and Bless you.
We have to do Something Today!!! We will have another or more Accidents later Report in time if you See bad Drivers even with Cell’s they Need to pass drugs tests Etc. O/O more often
I think he took a plea guilty deal to only get 63 years? He riser bed the death penalty, in my humble, truck driver’s opinion!
I am replying to the driving news , knowing that if you go and buy alcohol, drink it then drive that’s just dumb, stay in a hotel , go home ,drink at home stay at home , if u are that drunk sleep on the grass but don’t, drive . No NO no excuse .. DRINK,DRIVE,DIE… ITS THE THREE D’S . I AM A TRUCKER MYSELF . GO GET REHAB. 12 STEP ALCOHOL HELP. IT DOSENT BRING PERSONS BACK .
If it’s predictable, it’s preventable. I’m pretty sure someone knew about this drivers drinking/drug habit but no one did anything to stop him. This driver just like every irresponsible driver is 100% responsible for their actions.
But for those irresponsible, reckless, ignorant drivers who can’t operate in a safe an responsible manner need to be removed permanently from transportation jobs and driving period.
Those of us who know people who drive under the influence and or in a reckless manner, need to do the right thing and notify law enforcement and or prevent that person from driving physically, if needed. We as a people need to stop being weak and making excuses for “substance abuse.” Just like everything in life, it’s a choice.
I’m not sure if he was an o/o under his own authority, but if a company driver, they dropped the ball, if his cdl was suspended for drug possession.
If that’s the case, all this could have been prevented. Senseless deaths!
There should be others held accountable. But its always the driver.nhe wasnt able to pyll that off with out help.
Fly by night companys are good about dropping the ball ……and hiring leftovers
David, I agree, he got everything he deserved. Im an O/O and I get randomly drug or alcohol tested about once a year, and thats with my own authority. Look at the recent stats at who hauls the majority of freight. Owner operators.
I am an o/o I get tested every quarter lucky me that don’t bother me but the cost every time I figure 200 a year for them plus drug pull it goes with the territory we all not to get be hind the wheel of truck or my car hell no
My friend hasn’t had a drivers license of any kind in years and has warrants all over the country and still drives 900 miles to new York every week like clockwork. He does his e logs in his brothers name who doesn’t drive anymore and still has a cdl.license or not, gotta eat.
I hate when that happens.
The BAC limit for a CDL driver is .04 not .08
used to be .08
We used to not have CDLs too. It’s been a long time for both.
your right we have different standards and it applies to personal vehicles to
Not a Monster? He knew his license was suspended due to drugs. he knew not to drink and drive a commercial motor vehicle because it could take innocent lives and he ran from the scene of people DYING from his negligence. Not sure what his definition of a monster would be…He far surpasses the definition of a monster in my book.
A big case of ignoring the laws and of coarse we are all aware of the laws They are enforced for a reason. Even if a individual is not from this country the laws apply to them too while driving in the USA.
Not to go off topic but sooner or later the question of whether or not to fire a driver who tests positive for marijuana after it become legal across the country (no longer if, its now when) is soon to come.
my company has it’s own policy which is stricter than the federal
I drive for a small family-owned company. The owner was talking to a couple of us about that the other day. If/when pot becomes legal nationwide, his lawyers have told him that if he were to fire for pot use, but not alcohol, he could be sued for discrimination. Neither is acceptable to be under the influence of while on the job, but on your own time…not the company’s business if it’s legal.
The residual can stay for weeks after use. How would you determine if use was current while on duty, off duty night or weekend before, or a week or month prior? Answer you can’t. Also the limit for a safety sensitive or cdl holder to test positive is 15 ng per ml vs 50 ng per ml for regular employees. It’s not discrimination as it’s still a federal DOT violation.
Marijuana is only legal by the states will not be legal by federal and we fall under federal laws
this unfortunate truck driver should never see the light if day again . Has anyone seen the dashcam video from his truck? This dude never slowed down .
Good damn idiot ,giving all of us a bad name.he should died alone in that crash.
The article is about his sentence. Some of you turn it into an OO vs Company issue. Typical sign of the times.
” Got what he deserved “. Are you freaking kidding me ? He took the lives of three people who had been on earth less than him. He left victims. Drug addictions, yes. But drug addicts know what their doing. Believe me I know !
I don’t think the sentence was enough. Public execution. Just as he publically executed others.
he should have gotten life without parole
M
Maybe that’s what it takes to end this.
Couldn’t agree more with you.
Actually both Mark and Mike C. Are partially correct. Legal b.a.c is .04 to keep from being arrested for DUI. But any detectable B.A.C or odor of alcohol will place you out of service for 24hrs. And be documented.
This is why they need more random breath tests barely any one gets caught for drugs all you idiots drink so we should be more focused on alcohol.
This is absolutely sad! I was suspended on suspicion of being under the influence of marijuana last year. I at first was devastated that i felt the system was picking on me! Well rightfully so being i couldn’t piss clean at that moment. And in the past year I’ve done some soul searching. My situation opened up my eyes to the fact that God opened my eyes to the fact i could of done something like this to innocent people. All because of our privileged selfishness we get as CDL holders. So i don’t think its a company/owner operator thing but more or less its the people who are blessed with an opportunity and simply aren’t cut for the responsibility. I hope this opens up the eyes of any professional driver! God bless
Any driver convicted of any DUI or drug charge should be out of a career…5 years min! not this slap on the wrist do a program pay a lawyer and keep rolling BS…
Why they just slap everybody on wrist nowadays that’s why all these idiots do it- NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANYTHING ANYMORE
No. 10 years or never.
This is precisely the problem with the world overall. This guy writes a letter saying that he’s not what and who he’s been portrayed as. Despite killing three people he STILL thinks his feelings matter. He thinks his not wanting to be a monster or scumbag makes it so. How you affect the world is all that counts. Too many people think their sentiment matters more than their actions.
I might be the minority here, but that sentence is way way too harsh, even the time til parole eligibility is too much, This young man will be haunted enough by the incident, They shouldn’t condemn him to more years than murderers receive. Yes it was very stupid of him, he’s 29, reckless and stupid, but not to be condemned a cell, I would rather receive the death penalty. And if I may touch back to the Canadian truck driver who received I think nine years for running the intersection in Canada in the middle of nowhere into the busload of people. Blame can be put all kinds of ways onto the truck driver, but who put the bus in front of the truck moving at Interstate speeds. I know this is not the case here as this was a construction zone. And some accidents are terrible and regardless of the drinking it was an accident. The alcohol shouldn’t add 50 years, especially in the living conditions we put up with, You’ve got to give a guy a little grace if he self medicate’s due to all the Stress that sits with us all day that we don’t even look to recognize anymore. An office employee Has issues and drinks, he can’t sit at his desk and all of a sudden the whole front of his office has been plowed over by drunken him and his desk, Causing property damage, injuries and deaths. We as people only have so many roads we cope with everything we carry, That family needs to take back all those words They said to him, And remember that everybody dies and nobody remembers how when they do. Every single thing on earth that lives will die. Accidents need to be forgiven.
i try always to give people a brake. the benefit of the doubt. how would you feel if that were your family. cant say 28 years is unseasonable.
He got what he deserved, he should have known better ..
O/O, Company, whatever…doesn’t matter.
Upon being CONVICTED, he should be EXECUTED,
Life for a Life
Yes, blood for blood tooth for tooth
Agree.
What a pos and he will have alot of time to think about the lives he took
yeah you see many truckers drinking and smoking weed at the truck stops smh American roads are unsafe and only getting worse…good luck peace
Bs
LOL 😝, Geez.
Looney tunes.
It doesn’t matter if he was a company driver or owner operator. The key fact is he drove a tractor trailer. In the eyes of a lot of the public all drivers are bad. I have been in the transportation field for 35 years started as a driver went into management and now back to driving. It’s a new breed out there now and a lot of respect for driver is gone from the four wheelers and truck drivers as well. These young drivers aren’t getting the proper training and it’s just going to get worse. This is a black eye for the industry and hope people realize not all drivers are bad and do follow the rules. As for companies they are just wanting bodies to put in the truck so it doesn’t sit. I know a lot of OO and they aren’t bad and have a lot to lose and they do get pulled a lot more then companies trucks.
All drivers let’s do the right thing and follow the rules of the road and get the respect back that has been lost over the years.
I was in the bathroom in Misissipi came out with guns in my face.Someone had been robbed and the victim said i wasnt the one cuz my car motor was cold and i was to short. It took them 3 hrs to figure that out.
It’s bad and bad stuff happens everyday but you can’t fix stupid pass all the laws you like but nothing can fix stupid or evil people
Don how do we stop people who drive cars from drinking and driving or driving on drugs? It’s rare for something like this to happen and many states can randomly pull drivers in at any scale house and drug test them. It shouldn’t have happened but should we have the DMV pull the average citizen in and drug test them randomly through out the year. You have a better chance of being struck by lightning or winning the lottery than being injured by a drunk truck driver. you are injured by a drunk driver it’s more likely he will be driving a car. So get a grip take a breath and calm down.
WOW 😲, I’m speechless 😶.
Well with all the laws in place to prevent such a crime. With all the power of the law and punishment. It all comes down to personal choice and responsibility. Just like guns. Trucks, alcohol, and guns don’t kill people. Poor choices, and an evil heart is what kills people . All the laws in the world can not and will not stop people from making a bad, irresponsible, choice or having an intent to do evil.
Want to stop stuff like this?? Death penalty within 60 after trial. That will send a very clear message.
Here we go again.truck driver’s know everything.
That driver knew right from wrong. Bottom line.. He took lives with intention the minute he got behind the wheel. But some dumb ass defense attorney gave a whawha story that some dumbass jury bought into. He should have gotten death penalty no appeals. Death with weeks of sentencing. Now ALL our hard earned money and taxes are going to pay for him to have 3 hots and a cot, cable, weight room, yard time and sunshine on his face for the next 28.5 year’s. Even the victims families hard earned money and taxes will be contributing. Where’s the Justice in that???
Good. He deserved every bit of that sentence
Regulations and group punishment never solve the problems they propose and assume to solve. It simply tightens the noose on the innocent. No law has ever stopped a crime.
Humans are going to do what they do no matter what meaningless and empty words are drafted into some legal fiction.
Humanity chooses to live in a complete stupor of delusion about reality. This guy is the norm, not the exception to the rule of what humans are. Just because some of us haven’t killed some one w/ a truck while intoxicated, we instead routinely kill each other slowly every day by participating in the farce of civilization and the fiction of law.
We are a maladapted group of ingrate savages feigning civility mostly to bs ourselves as much as others.
Nowhere is it mentioned whether this driver was a owner or a company driver.
Many assume that only a owner could continue to operate and that all companies screen.
This is simply not the case.
There are many bad apples in every orchard.
There are companies that should not be in business run by very shady people who hire incompetent drivers.
Just dig through the archives right here for some of their stories.
Never assume.
Far too many people today form social media lynch mobs based on assumption and feelings instead of fact checking.
Tragically this particular bad apple had to kill innocent people in order to get caught and sadly is typically the case with all drivers who operate any vehicle under the influence.
What we have here is a people problem which spans the gamut.
This problem has become further exacerbated with the rise of technology in everyone’s hand.
Distracted driving is on a fast track to surpassing DUI as the leading cause of traffic fatalities.
Everyone needs to be more responsible not only in their own behavior but also to be on the lookout for drivers who pose a danger to others by driving erratic either from distraction or DUI and do your part to report them to local and state police.
Distracted drivers are easier to spot because we can see them holding their phones.
Just like the old Smoky the Bear ads we used to see… “Only You Can Prevent _____” not only forest fires but now Death and injuries from careless drivers no matter what they drive.
Sadly, today’s truck drivers are getting the same rap as pit bulls, only because they can do more damage per incident, not because they are all inherently bad.
Which is obviously not the case.
Statistically Put Bulls and Truckers are safer than the rest of the population.
It’s only those few bad ones that get all the media attention while the rest of the regular breed’s crimes go unnoticed and often unpunished.
Think about it, and do your part to make our roads safer.
Share the road, be courteous, don’t be in a hurry, leave earlier, move over when you see the first sign telling you to, not at the end of the lane.
Treat others how You want to be treated and Report Careless Drivers!!
A redneck driving with a suspended license? Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll doggy! Surprise, surprise, surprise!
what a idiot.. also, i wish alcohol was not allowed in this country…and not able to be made at home either….it just destroys
