Drivers passing using E-ZPass in Massachusetts should check their billing statements to make sure they’re not being charged more than they should be.
Local news in Chicopee Mass has reported that residents and motorists have been finding charges on their E-ZPass bill for far more than they expected.
It started when a local woman named Sue Pajak went through her E-ZPass records and found that for the past two months, she’d be getting charged $3.00 for a toll instead of $0.90. She also noticed that the confirmation light wasn’t always going on as she drove through.
It was discovered that when her E-ZPass was scanned before leaving the highway, the system just assumed that she had started her trip way farther down the road in New York State and charged her accordingly.
When she called E-ZPass to report the issue, she was informed that the company was aware of the problem and that they would be fixing the issue. She was also told that she would be reimbursed for the extra charges, but according to Pajak, she has not yet been paid back.
But the only way she – or anyone else – would ever know that they were being overcharged is to check. So if you’ve driven in E-ZPass territory, especially near Chicopee, MA recently, check your E-ZPass statements. If you think you’ve been overcharged, you can call MassDOT Customer Service at 1-877-627-7745.

I would like that all E-Zpass gates tell me how much I was charged instead of show me ” low balance” that belongs to their imaginary threshold
