Hurricane Joaquin has just been upgraded to a category 4 storm and is expected to hit the East Coast of the United States with unknown ferocity.
With wind gusts currently up to 160mph, the East Coast is bracing for another massive storm. The governors of New Jersey, North Carolina, and Virginia have already declared states of emergency and are warning residents to prepare for flooding, dangerous weather, and power outages.
The NJDOT has already announced that it is preparing its response teams to clear roads after the storm.
“We never take severe weather events lightly and the Governor has directed us to prepare for the worst, so that’s exactly what we’re doing,” NJDOT Commissioner Jamie Fox said. “I have every confidence in the NJDOT personnel and our preparation efforts. While we can’t stop this storm from coming, we can ensure that, if and when it gets here, we are ready to respond.”
Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey warned residents to prepare, but was careful not to panic residents saying “I’m not here to tell people that Sandy 2 is coming,” referring to the super-storm that devastated New Jersey just a few years ago.
It is still uncertain if the storm will gain ferocity or lose some steam; make landfall or blow out to sea, but if it does hit the East Coast, current projections show it hitting Virginia, Maryland, and/or New Jersey on Monday and making its way straight up the coast with the center of the storm reaching Massachusetts on Tuesday.

I’ve filled my tires with a little extra air, have my scuba gear in my side box and a snorkel for my engine….I’m ready!
Ha, all they got to do is put some whipped cream on the hurricane and Christie will eat it.
