One driver last week had a rather unusual encounter with the law. A man posing as a police officer forced him to pull over, climbed onto the hood of the vehicle, and reported yelled at the driver to “apologize to Jesus” for speeding.
On the morning of February 26th, the trucker was driving northbound on I-43 in Wisconsin when a black BMW started flashing his headlights at him, pulling in front of him and slowing down, and flashing his blinkers. Finally, the BMW got in front of the truck and slowed to 10mph, so the driver called the police and pulled to the side of the road.
The BMW driver, Haris Mackic, told the trucker that he was a police officer, shouted at him that he had been speeding, then jumped onto the hood of the truck, snapped off the antenna and started yelling at the driver to “apologize to Jesus” for speeding.
When the real police showed up however, Mackic didn’t call it quits. He told the deputy that he was a police officer and had pulled the truck over because it was going above the 70mph speed limit. When the officer called his bluff and asked him which department he worked for, Mackic responded that he worked for the same one as the deputy and continued claiming that he was a police officer.
The driver informed the officer that he was not speeding and that his truck has a speed governor set to 64 miles per hour.
Mackic was arrested and charged with misdemeanor impersonating a peace officer, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage to property.
According to police, just before the incident, a different trucker had called 911 and reported a black BMW northbound on I-43 trying to make him pull over while driving erratically.

LOL…Total whack job.
Whack-a-doodle
Probably going to need a team of special doctors….
To give him a check up from the neck up.
The term meat head comes to mind!
Hey, you apologize to Jesus for saying Wake Doodle!!!
Next stop, the Twilight Zone!
This is why unmarked police cars should be illegal. What if it’s are wife or daughter getting preyed upon? This revenue maker for the police sacrifices the safety of the public.
I think unmarked cars should not ever be used to pull over traffic.
Amen
Unmarked cars use red and blue lights with alternating flashing headlights. This was just a moron using his 4-ways and headlights. I wouldn’t pull over either.
Just when you think you”ve heard it all…you get a religious highway zealot mental fool(no pun intended for those that are real christian believers)…I tell you we all see some weird crap out here over the years. He is lucky he didn’t do this to a driver on a mountain gong down grade with a heavy load. Then he breaks the driver’s antenna off, okay get that psyche doctor on this case! Further he goes on to tell the real police officer he is a cop, and from the same department he is from..lol..wow. Glad to hear the driver is okay though, he did the right thing…911.
Many years ago (Probably around the year 2004 or 2005), a man and lady pulled up beside me and started waving a badge and shouting for me to pull over.
This was at the Nevada-California border on I-15. I was climbing that hill on I-15 going into California with a heavy load on my trailer, and continued slowly climbing that hill until I got near the top. I then pulled over. But before pulling over, I called 911 and reported that someone with a badge was requiring me to pull over, but it didn’t look right. The California 911 operator stated that they were too busy to send someone.
I stopped and the guy again flashed the badge at me. I would ask to see the badge, and he would flash it open and closed. Too fast for me to read the information on it. But I also had a camera operating. (I’ve used small cameras in my truck since 1999.)
He claimed that I had hit his car. I looked at the car and there was a black mark on a fender. But the only way that I could have put it on the car was if the car had been under my trailer. I was recording everything with cameras.
I finally got the man’s information which was also recorded with a camera. But when I mentioned that I had already called 911 before pulling over, the couple hopped in their car and took off before looking at my driver’s license.
In reviewing the photographic information later, I noticed that the badge was a Border Patrol badge. I reported it to both the California State Police and to Homeland Security. I never heard any more about it.
I probably still have the digital photos somewhere.
Snapped off the antenna huh?
The guy in the beemer made baby Jesus cry.
I was wondering about the antenna too lol! Must be a different kind of big truck then I’m used to seeing.
I had a similar experience on northbound I-15. An idiot kept trying to stop me but on that stretch of road there’s no real shoulder. I came to that rest stop at the top of the hill and pulled in. There was a CHIPPIE in the parking lot. I told him about the idiot. He smiled and took off. I pulled out and, sure enough, a mile down the road he had both occupants leaning over the hood. I found out later that the cartels would impersonate the law to steal the truck and whatever was in it. I decided that from that point, unless it was an obviously marked car, I would not pull over. Period. And if the antagonist got too pesty…well, 80,000 pounds can change a lot of attitudes at 75 mph.
75 in California ?
Why not? Your not supposed to impede traffic in any state. So just go with the flow of the traffic.
That’s right….
But did he apologized? Or Jesus was busy doing roofing?
Funny
I find more wacko drivers recently than over 35 years of driving before.
drivers who out of nowhere appear and start racing. pass. then slow down. get behind again. then race up. pass again then get in front. slow down.
or race to pass only to stop in front to do a turn. or the time a nutjob slammed on his brakes. not once. or twice but three times. locked them up. easily I could have totaled him. only later to have him at a traffic light scream ”you don’t even know the constitution”. its gotten to where I might be getting desensitized to it and expect it now.
A screwed up foreigner in a BMW is a dime a dozen here in Ohio… Hell screwed up foreign truck drivers are a dime a dozen too.
I would never, ever pull over, or stop if a civilian car, wanted me to stop. There is too many crazies and criminals sharing the breathing space with us, normal folk. If one pulls in front of me and start slowing down…well they will quickly learn what it means to have 80 000 pounds up their arse. I have a family to come home to. My son loves and needs me. This is about survival. I have one life and I rather like it. I will deal with the consequences later.
There is nothing in the article to suggest that this guy was a foreigner. Just a home grown lunatic.
If an unmarked vehicle tries to pull you over, call 911 immediately. Never pull over for anyone who hasn’t had his bona fides verified. This driver was extremely lucky that this looney tunes didn’t start shooting. I would not have pulled over for that “unmarked vehicle”. First, there are no police departments in the continental US that use BMWs for traffic enforcement. Second, a quick call to 911 would have exposed this nut for what he truly was. We are surrounded by morons and fruitcakes, folks. Keep your head on a swivel and always be vigilant.
Lake Forest police (near North Chicago) used both BMW and I think Mercedes Benz years ago. It was at one time the richest per capita city in the nation. Mike Tyson lived there when he got arrested for rape.
That is exactly why Texas State Troopers never used unmarked vehicles.
Had a similar experience two years ago after making a city delivery.
Jackass in a white pickup tail-gaited me, then nearly had a head-on trying to overtake make. He forced the oncoming car onto the sidewalk, then cut in front of my truck, forcing me to stop in the middle of the road.
He gets out, all full of piss and vinegar, demanding to know why I was off the truck route.
I explained that my customer was not located on the truck route, and that I was folllowing the company mandated routing.
He ignored my explanation completely, and demanded my name, truck number, and driver’s license, company phone number, etc.
I declined to acquiest to his request, so he started snapping pics of the truck and said he would be phoning my company. I said go right ahead.
I beat him to the punch, explaining everything to the boss, but he actually called the next day. The boss came to the conclusion that he was a real wingnut, lol.
My only regret was that I didn’t have a dash cam at that time. I should have reported him to the police.
Well, hes got a point! All you speeders out there should appologize to Jesus for speeding! I’ve made it a point to say, I’m sorry Jesus 30 times a day now so I may be a speeder but I’m covered now. If I get pulled over now Ill just tell the officer I already appologized to Jesus and he will cut me loose right ? Lol
Law enforcement cheat sheet!
If it doesn’t have government plates, don’t pull over.
Learn what they look like.
For example, here, in California, all government vehicle license plates have only numbers, start with 1, and say (CA EXEMPT) where the registration sticker should be.

At the time when truck driver’s need help some of you always want to tell jokes, then when something happens to you then all of a sutten things change, stop with the dame jokes and get serious, dame.
The real question is: how does somebody this nuts get the money to buy a Bimmer?
I’m definitely doing something wrong.
Sounds like a disgruntled Swift trainee failure getting back at the industry. 🙂
Jesus made me do it.
MS had a reported unmarked car of some sort trying to pull people in cars over on I-55. There were a couple of murders through the years.
Too many crazies out there. We have even had a vehicle here in our town that has tried to pull people over, haven’t heard that they have ever caught the person yet.
