Get ready for a week of safety checks where inspectors will be taking an extra hard look at your brakes: CVSA’s Brake Safety Week is here.
From September 15th through the 21st, CMV enforcement officers will be stepping up their inspections as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s Brake Safety Week. But brakes aren’t the only thing being checked out. Most inspectors will be performing full Level I inspections, just with a bit of extra time dedicated to brake systems.
According to the CVSA website, “inspectors will be paying special attention to brake hoses/tubing.” So now’s a good time to spend a little longer on your pre-trip and double-check those hoses and tubes. CVSA says that “brake hoses/tubing must be properly attached, undamaged, without leaks and appropriately flexible.”
“We all know how important a properly functioning brake system is to vehicle operation,” said CVSA President Jay Thompson. “All components of the brake system must always be in proper operating condition. Brake systems and their parts and components must be routinely checked and carefully and consistently maintained to ensure the health and safety of the overall vehicle.”
During CVSA’s Roadcheck enforcement blitz in June, the most common reason for a truck being placed Out-Of-Service was for brake system violations, making up 28% of all vehicle OOS orders.
Hey I have a better idea. How about doing your surprise safety blitz inspections at the trucking companies yards and maintenance lots before the equipment leaves the facilities Instead of harassing poor truck drivers out here on the side of the road and trying to make a living by making their miserable jobs even more miserable
That’s the best idea ever. But it’s to easy and makes sense. They rather harass us
O Man you said a mouth full, yea 👍, yes the company is where your inspection really should happen at, if they only knew what a trucker has to go through to get something fix on the yard, sometime they tell you they don’t have time to fix it, you go on do your work when you come back I will fix it, NOW you out on the road broke down still got to wait, YES INSPECTOR START AT The COMPANY First 👍😊
👍🏻
DOT must pay closeer attention about emission controll as well. 50% if not more of the tracks on the road has DEF system disabled and operating just like that. You don’t have to be top nuch mechanic and don’t need to have special computerized equipment to find out if the truck has DEF deleted or not.if you fallow behind the truck ,they smoke a lot on uphill or every time they change the gears, i am talking about not glider kit rigs, trucks are newer and they originally came with DOC system. Everyone knows it’s all corrupted and DOT should step up and take proper measures. Small mechanic shops most of them they provide such service for around $2K to delete DEF system so accurately, that even inspectors can’t even detect on the computer. Its really sad when you see trucks live heavy smoke that you can’t even see what’s in front of you. I am very surprised that DOT lets so many trucks to operate on the road without emmition system been in working order!
Def is a hoax you loser!
I can agree in part but not totally. I’ve been around trucks over 40 years. I’ve never seen one yet any where that blew smoke so bad, being behind it you lost visibility?!
Even at drag races, truck and tractor pulls, I’ve not seen that, bro.
harassing poor drivers or just the lazy drivers?crawl under the truck/ trailer and put your hands on components and do your job,it doesn’t take long ,sure you may get some dirt in your soft hands and sandals so what.havjbg DOT come to every trucking company is unrealistic.and if your company is not fixing safety issues it’s on to refuse to operate that equipment.
Why you snitching company man
I think all trucks should not have dpf filter if it starts acting up that’s extra money coming out of your pocket you fix and fix it leaves you broke
shut up, that has nothing to do with brakes and safety genius. The only way those thousands of MAX FORCE engines is to delete the DEF system. So many truckers and companies lost so much money and lost their companies over those trucks. And te average guy cant afford to fix the thing every time it takes a crap. Why would you even post something like that yo yo.
What are you, a troll from the EPA?
DEF has nothing to do with color of exhaust. Please, dont speak unless spoken too.
do you have spell check ….?……oh and who cares about useless emissions any its a scam from day one.
All DEF is awAy for government to make more money. All it is is liguid fertilizer Urea
Def is one of the main reasons why trucks stays in the shop go back to working at the grocery store rookie!!!
There is a lot of problems with the emmissions systems and the sensors and what not. In a 50 truck fleet where I work there is a constant number of trucks down due to electronics and/or emissions system problems. At one time we had 17 trucks in the shop, or back at the dealer. It’s ridiculous.
Oh joy just what we need another blitz.last time my truck was inspected they found nothing, my partner and myself found about $3000 worth of brake damage after they inspected it
Once again just like in June who cares,I know I don’t rest of u can run around scared next week I’m not if we didn’t have sterring wheel holders and weine s in the industry we would have cvsa, fmcsa, and dot under our foot not us under theres I’m gonna start doing blitz es on scales if u don’t have prepass on 500000 fine 2nd time it’s not on scale gets shut down for good and turned into truck parking
I got a hose they can inspect!
And don’t forget the ball joints
🤣
If DEF is for real, explain too me why when the filter is full of soot, you have to get the exhaust hot enough to BURN THE SOOT OFF! Stand by a truck with a under carrige exhaust and the Regen on. I’d rather breathe black pipe smoke. At least you know what’s coming out.
I’d like to know where I can get it deleted for 2k. Last few I know that was done was 5-6k each.
