The body of Lawrence P. Muirhead, a trucker who has been missing since September 28th of last year, was discovered earlier this week, ending the four and a half month search for the man. His body was been found inside a freezer within a detached garage in a quiet neighborhood outside Kansas City, KS.
The garage and the house are owned by Don Moore whose tenants found the body. He claims that he had no knowledge of the freezer. The body was reported to authorities when the tenant used a shovel to break open the freezer and discovered the grisly scene.
The tenant claims that a man she knew asked her to keep the freezer inside her garage and that she did not know what it contained. According to Moore, the man who placed the freezer in the garage is hospitalized and currently battling terminal cancer.
Muirhead went missing shortly after speaking with his wife while stuck in heavy traffic around the Kansas City area. His truck was found days later in an abandoned parking lot.
As Muirhead’s body was only identified today, police do not yet have any official suspects or suspected motive. Police are considering his death a homicide, but have not said what the cause of death was. Muirhead’s family however have told members of the press that they were told that he was shot in the head.
