Phillips Connect has recently released two Smart Lock products designed to guard trailer loads, making sure that only the right people have access to their trailers and can move or unload the trailer.
The SmartLock Gladhand, as it is called, prevents unauthorized movement or towing any asset that the pneumatic gladhand is attached to. There is a locking pin that prevents air to the glad hand and locks it in place, and can only be activated, or deactivated, with the digital command. The gladhand is powered by an internal non-rechargeable battery pack that is independent of any other system, so it requires no connection to work.
The SmartLock Door is designed as a stand-alone device that replaces the standard seals on trailers and can be installed in five minutes.
The trailer door that is attached to the SmartLock Door can only be unlocked by fleet dispatch personnel, the authorized receiving persons, or set to automatically unlock when entering the yard. Both products are activated via a command through Bluetooth LE communications interfaces.
Phillips Connect officials have said at a press release that the SmartLock Door device guarantees that the load is secure from shipping all the way to the customer location.
