It’s that time of the year again! The International Roadcheck enforcement blitz is almost upon us and the CVSA has announced that – in addition to other standard safety checks – this year they will be focusing on tire safety.
Roadcheck is a massive undertaking when 10,000 CVSA-certified inspectors make it their mission to inspect an average of nearly 17 trucks and buses in the United States, Mexico, and Canada every minute for 72 hours.
According to the CVSA website, every year Roadcheck “places special emphasis” on a specific category of violations. In its 29th year, that category is tire safety. Inspectors will be paying special attention to the following:
- Tread depth
- Tire pressure
- Cuts or bulges in sidewalls
- Items lodged in between tires
- Overall tire condition
That’s not to say that inspectors will be turning a blind eye to any other issues however. According to the CVSA, inspectors will also be conducting a thorough examination of both the driver and the vehicle.
This year Roadcheck will run from June 7th through June 9th and is a partnership between the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (US), Transport Canada (Canada), and the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (Mexico).

Do like me. My truck is in excellent shape but I refuse to put up with their BS! I will either be home or sitting somewhere for 3 days while they screw with most everyone else! Not going to play!
Same here. I haven’t worked during the blitz in as long as I can remember.
I agree with you guys. I do the same. My equipment is always in tip top shape. However, all government agencies have to prove their worth, so this is another instance where these folks are somewhat “pressured” into having so many averse checks. Not gonna play their silly games either. Can you say vacation?
Omg. Lol. I really hope the the training companies step it up. If you work for a training company, check your pressure, depth, separation, and sidewalls on all tires on both sides of each tire. If your company suggest running to the terminal for repairs…say no. You don’t want those points and violations because your company wants to be cheap.
I always stay home. I have a new truck and trailer. But I’m not giving in to this crazy blitz crap. Just another way to profile truckers and mess with our money. Maybe they should do a car blitz every year? There in allot worse shape than our trucks.
Oh, I’d friggin love to see how many cars are stuck sitting for cracked windshields and bald tires
your trucks are owned by big companies that can afford to buy tires. I work and make minimum wage at 40 hours a week and i cant AFFORD to drive legal. but if i stopped driving i couldnt work at all…..
I just spent $4,000 for tires out of MY POCKET! Get a better job and no company owns MY truck!
How do you know who people work for many guys out here are owner operators who are the bread winners for their family when you look at it a lot of these guys make minimum wage if you add up all the time drivers spend away from home and eating spending money on the road . They should put more restrictions on cars and not trucks they don’t respect the road and they ride around with hundreds of visible violations everyday
They do in NY. Need an inspection sticker & a registration sticker. I hate it.
Talking about inspecting cars
That’s a yearly inspection cars don’t have a check station or a yearly blitz to make sure your headlights, brakes tires, defroster, windshield and etc … Are compliant and safe working conditions
sadly I am one of those drivers with cracked windshield. I live in a area there there is always construction going on, meaning that trucks [and a few] cars throw up rocks, an another crack in the windshield. I have also had to replace two set of driving lights because of this. so, even though law says you can’t have cracks in the windshield, I hold off as long as I can.
A car check would be amazing, I like it
You own your truck and work 40 hrs a week and only make minimum wage?ummmmm….mabe u should do something else.
Those dates must be wrong.
Why, they are a Tue, Wed, Thur. Why is that wrong?
I agree with Mike; just don’t know what the truck before you did to tick DOT person off. See way to many “holier than thou” or “mightier”, every time I’ve got go in and show my permit.
Not playing their games, I do my job and keep the maintenance up on my ’99. I too will be home.
I haul oversize and over weight construction equip. I run all virgin tires ( 30 of them total) I keep everything in top shape because of the weight I haul. I get hassled enough because of the flashing lights and yellow and black signs. It’s like a bill board saying easy $$$$$. When I know there’s a blitz on it’s easier and less expensive to just take a couple days off.
They need to do a yearly blitz of the cops and dot lol who watches the watcher
Thanks. Sounds like a good time for a vacation.
My vacation week every year. I will be sipping on margaritas on the Sandy shores of port aransas and fishing far from any DOT. In a matter of fact the only port I will be close to is the port of call. Good luck y’all.
