Police are still at a loss as to how and why a trucker drove miles on the Southbound Maine Turnpike on Monday heading North.
The calls started coming in around 9:30pm on Monday from motorists who had to swerve to avoid a big rig hurtling down the road in the wrong direction with its lights off. Miraculously, no one was injured before the truck nearly collided head-on with a Maine State Police cruiser.
After the officers swerved to avoid the truck, they turned around to follow it. Unable to get the truck to pull over, they pulled in front of the truck and got the driver to stop by applying the brakes, but not before he had caused minor damage to the vehicle by crashing in to it. No one was injured in the collision.
Once the truck was stopped, police arrested the trucker, 49-year-old Michael Crews and took him to a nearby hospital for evaluation even though he was not injured.
Police have charged Crews with driving to endanger, but it is still not clear why he was driving the wrong way on a highway at night with his headlights off.

Possibly sleep driving? Sounds more like a mental state then a crime but we’ll likely never know all the facts.
I assume if he was doing anything wrong it would have came out in the first report. But, give them time to dig into the drivers childhood secrets, and then we can burn him on the cross. I’m sure his 2nd grade teacher messed him up to the point that he was not thinking clearly on that very day he decided to do all this…

Sleep driving, I remember dozing off in Cheyenne and waking up in salt lake city once.
I know exactly what happened. That axxhole was following his four wheeled GPS. That’s how those knuckleheads end up on the 7 foot clearances of the FdR in New York
