The world’s youngest OTR trucker was born last week in a truck stop bathroom in Upstate New York. The baby’s parents are two truckers who were just passing through and left the truck stop with an adorable stow-away.
When Jim’s Truck Stop manager Brian Degan heard employees talking about a woman giving birth in the ladies room, he thought it was a joke. But it wasn’t. Employees responded when they heard a woman screaming and were shocked to discover that the woman had given birth to a baby girl right there in the bathroom.
“Yea I didn’t believe it when my employees said she just had a baby inside the ladies room and I thought they were joking and they weren’t joking,” Degan told WIVB. “So, I called right away and the ambulance was here within less than two minutes and she was at the hospital probably 15 minutes after that.”
While no one at the truck stop caught the father’s name, they told reporters that the woman’s name was Chris and she had been eight months pregnant.
Both Chris and her baby, Nora, are safe and healthy. They were released from a local hospital a short time later. Before they were, employees at Jim’s Truck Stop sent flowers to baby Nora and her parents at the hospital. Nora’s parents were reportedly from Minnesota, and are hopefully back home by now with their healthy baby girl! Best wishes to all involved!
In a truck stop bathroom? Eww, I hope the baby got some extra booster shots to help ward off whatever it could catch in there. Other than that, welcome to the world, future little autonomous virtual gear shifter!
Truck stop bathrooms are usually cleaner than most public bathrooms. And with so few female truckers i’d imagine it wasn’t too bad. The travesty here is that you’re working up until the day you give birth. Harsh world.
Sounds like the baby came early. Story said mother was eight months along.
Yes, bathrooms at truck stops are usually kept very clean and organized.
Amen
Remember she was 1 month early giving birth so maybe her intent was to take the last month off. At least all are safe and healthy
Remember that she was 8 months, little girls are not always late.
Amen brother…..
She had been eight months pregnant. So, it’s a one month earlier.
Dont know about it being cleaner then most public bathrooms cause I’ve seen a bunch that should be set on fire but I do agree why are we on the road while 8 months pregnant I’m sorry but the 2 I’d you made enough money to sit her home till it was due date ijs
Not even CLOSE to being cleaner, you idiot.
She was only 8 months according to the article. So she was early.
It said she was 8 months, which means the baby came a few days or weeks early
Maybe not working ? Perhaps, she was riding along close to husband durring late term instead of staying home. She has a month to go according to story.i doubt it was expected.
I drive truck and am A female. Thise truck stops are clean and well maintained, I use larger truck stops and have never had a single problem.. so take your eww, and stick it.
The womens bathroom at most truck stops are some of the cleanest I’ve been to. They are way cleaner than the gen pop bathrooms at gas stations.
Most truck stop bathrooms are extremely clean.
Gross
Rawdog now you know that ain’t nice
The good Lord was born in a manger so no biggy.Bless them for not aborting in a dumpster
Amen!
Amen. God has his hands on that child. I pray Momma is able to stay home for awhile and take Care of little one and Daddy gets a local job so he can be home w/ Momma and little one regularly.
I hope the Truck Stop gives little one free coffee for life when he is old enough to drink coffee and gave the parents a nice meal.
Bless your parents too Bernie for not throwing YOU in a dumpster.
Not a very good reply to someone who was giving credit for a job well done, giving reference to the birth of Jesus, in just as lowly of a place as a Rest Room, and not being discarded like some have done. The young parents are living a life together, which may be a good investment, vs living on the streets or off the government.
…..can I get a AMEN on that comment….
Don’t worry Bernie won’t become president he will die way before
LOL
@Bernie Best comment! Thank you for posting!
Nice comment😁
That wasnt nice….people do keep their babies you know…..
Right.
Amen!
Awesome!!!
I give birth with a huge dump in the men’s bathroom every day!! Smell ya later losers!! 😂
Groooss poor lady!!! But I mean if your so close at your due date wtf would you go trucking..
People are so resilient.
Congratulations Mom and Dad.
Welcome to the world Nora!!
Congrats!!! 👍🙂
Babies dont work by no body’s schedule. She was 8mths pregnant, sure she was trying to make a lil more money so she could come off the road & be with her baby. Truckers have a serious job but where would our lives be without them. Its not one thing we purchase from any store that dont come to us via a TRUCK. God Bless the mama, daddy & perhaps a future lil trucker. #truckerwife
LOVE YOU NORA
Not surprised, have you seen the lady truckers? I’m more surprised by the fact, that someone would put their Weiner in a lady trucker!
Who ever they are working for should give them a permanent job!!! That’s dedication at it it’s fullest! I hope everything is great with their newborn and wish them the best of times and happy miles ahead!
Glad to hear all went well. Truly a wonderful moment not ideal for most but wonderful none the less.
Cheaper than a hospital but Jim’s bathroom is not very sanitary.
Wrong the ambulance in Long Beach charges $3800 permile as it is owned by the Mayor of Long Beach who also ownes the hospital where all accident victims get taken to.
? Long Beach…
What The Jim’s Truck Stop, in this story is off I 90 Cheektowaga, NY ( Buffalo ) not Long Beach…
Good thing it wasn’t a pilot or ta bathroom
Congratulations on a new bundle of joy!! God bless safe travels!
I used to give birth in truck stop bathrooms all the time…. then I quit eating fast food crap! 🙂
Great post, DonBhoy!
lmao
Lmfao…. 😆😂😂😂
You know who was not happy about it….. the janitor.
Whaaaat when did this happen I was just there yesterday and the day before. Nobody even mentioned it, would have thought it was the talk of the town.
Yeah , Jim’s has nasty bathrooms . I go by there often as I deliver regularly 2 miles away . They’re filthy and outdated . Restaurant is good but they’ve not put a cent into that place for 40 years .
You were in the ladies bathroom? Pervert!
I. Seen. Mins. I. Sure wouldn’t. Be born. In. There. Now the mins room stinky. At. Least he had class to take her to the lades room
Congratulations babies are blessing no matter where they’re born! And I love the name Nora my daughter wanted to name her baby that.
I have to put some doubt to this story. What I’m finding odd is that the release them from the hospital released them a short time later..
First off most hospitals will not release the mom until the next day at the earliest, and usually the baby the next day if all went well. But,uf a baby is delivered outside of a hospital the are put in a different nursery from the babies who where born inside of one. Plus they are monitored closer to make sure they didnt exposed to any harmful germs in the unsanitary birth area.
So to me I have to call partial BS on this one.
Wth we’re u still bouncing around in some damned ol’ truck when 8 months into pregancy!??
Indians rode horses pregnant all time. When time to birth they went out alone and Squatted and give birth to their children and cut the umbilical cord with her teeth wrap the babies up and Rode back to camp.
I was on my husband’s truck the whole time I was pregnant. Delivered my healthy baby boy in a hospital and we have all been on the truck since. We come home once a month. My now 3 year old loves it and he has seen more and been more places than most adults.
Haha…baby Nora is gunna be one tough little trucker after starting like that. Best wishes and God bless her always.
She might be living in it like most truck drivers do dah.
The funniest part of the story is at the end when the author hopes that they are back home by now. The truth is more likely that their dispatcher was pissed they missed the delivery window. Then they were told it will be ten more days before they can get a load back home.
Yup
I dont know what is WORSE i was born in a truck stp bathroom or i was born bouncing around in a striped out frieghtliner lol god bless there fam give them a hell of a story for life lol hope it wasnt a swift truck lol
What’s really sad is you can’t keep some random trucking company out of your mouth 😩
Obviously no one ask this question so I will… Did she know she was 8 MONTHS PREGNANT?!?!?
No way a sane man would STILL have his wife(girlfriend) Team Driving until the last possible check?!?!?
Na he just thought she gained weight from the fast food restaurant 😅
Due dates are at the end of 9months. She had 6-8 weeks and many woman work right up until they deliver. Some women deliver in 30 minutes some 2 days. Everyone is different as well as every pregnancy. Baby and body decide.
How do you not kno your pregnant slapping myself from reading some of y’all post didn’t realise that stupidity was that bad in the world.
They might live in the truck
More than likely they live in that truck. I’m bettin goin to the house was a visit with momma
I use to give birth every time I stopped at the truck stop restrooms .
Just happy everything turned out good for our fellow truck driver I hope that baby have better options then we do if not it’s already have trucking experience😁😃
I was sled riding when I was 8 months there’s nothing wrong with continuing with your norm if dr say it’s okay. Mary was riding on the back of a mule in the cold with Jesus.
The DOT already asked to see the baby’s log book….
I like to drive through Lips, Montana and look at all the dusty shacks there. Has anyone driven through Lips?
Congrats !
Congrats to the new parents of Minnesota.. I’m glad the baby is healthy and is ok.. Welcome home to Minnesota.. Another Viking fan was born..#SKOL..#Cmon
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU. WELCOME BABY GIRL NORA. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR MOM AND DAD.
TRUCKERS MAKE THE COUNTRY A BETTER PLACE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT SERVICE.
I hope she remembered to change her log status before running out of the tuck 🙂
GOD BLESS TRUCKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES FOR THEIR GREAT SACRIFICE AND SERVICE.
Women give birth everyday in different places for generations. Taxis, cars, airplanes, sidewalks, home, everywhere. Stop acting as if this is the end of the world please. Another fame hungry.
As a retired truck driver of well over 2 dozen years, I saw the decline of the Truck stop bathrooms first hand. Save for the Petro TS shower rooms in Salina KS, they are a cesspool of microbes. Good luck little one.
Congrats to the trucker couple on their new baby and hope they r all fine and good and in great helth
I drove solo up until I was 36 weeks pregnant. Gave birth in a hospital at 38 weeks. My baby boy was born healthy and without complications. He is now over 11 months old and still thriving. I gave up the road to stay home with him. As long as your healthy there’s no reason why you cant be a pregnant woman driver.
That baby already has more trucking experience than your fleet manager.
Probably being recruit by C R England to be a trainer and sense it’s already use to being in a truck for 8 months no need to send it home for a reset.
Wowow that’s amazing but she knew she was 8 months pregnant why are you even on the truck know that u could have been stranded somewhere not a smart thing on here part my Fiancé is pregnant and only has two months left she wanted to go on the truck with me I told her no
8 months. Too. Close to delivery. Loads. Come before. Babies. Congratulations
Bernie, 41 years of shifting and steering, “left seat, left lane, left yesterday”. With all of that behind me, I couldn’t have said it better. Amen, pardner. Amen and right on! DocSedit.
I just read this and im ashamed to even kno the human race at all you people are rude and mean to hell with the lot of you this has nothing to do with the bathrooms or that its a truck stop you all give truck drivers crap but you tend to forget we control your way of life you wouldn’t have nothing and I mean nothing if we didn’t bring it to you ya you ungrateful people need to grow up and mind your manners……..
Maybe she be the CEO of the next generation of respectful hard working Hwy hero. As too many of us out there have lost it for each other! The importance of the role we play.
To all honest respectful men and women . I tip my hat to you , 35 years proud I am. “Keep the rubber in the down side.
That’s a country song in the making.
OMG!!! THAT’S SO INSANE!!! A TRUCKER GIVING BIRTH IN A TRUCK STOP BATHROOM?!?! WHOOOAAAHHH!!!
Childbirth you cant stop. Regardless. Of. Bathroom. Cleaness. At least. It wasnt. In restaurant. Or in the freezing. Temps. Seems mom. And. Baby are doing well. Chats. Good. The person. Who delivered. The. Baby. Bless. Your. Heart. Not many people. Would do that. Many. Blessings. To. Mother. Baby. And who ever delivered.
Just love seeing all the men thinking women can’t do stuff while pregnant. 🤣🤣
Hey, we’re men; we reserve the right to be clueless.
As long as the baby is fine and checked out at the hospital and released what difference does it make where she was born. Welcome into the world Nora, hope you and your family are doing well, screw the dispatcher my family comes first. As far as having her in the truck at 8 months pregnant? If her Dr cleared her to ride in the truck stop bashing her.
Good luck with your 18 speed transmission I hope you had Detroit 60 series 14L
Don’t females get the felling when they are about to go in labor which means the baby is about to come out of the belly and in that situation I thought people would call the ambulance to go to the hospital NOT the TOILET or I am missing something in this simple process. Or maybe someone else could say this in a better way. All I am trying to say is when you feel the baby is coming it might be time to go to hospital not toilet.
The term to carry a baby is 9 months , she had the baby at 8 , a month to early , I’m sure she knew she needed to go home soon and get ready to give birth , it just happened a month earlier than they had expected , I’m sure they were just as surprised as the rest were. I have driven my truck preg up until I was 6 months with my son and went back to work 2 weeks after he was born , my mom took care of him while I worked local so I could do my job.
But I grew up in trucking and so have all my children. If it was her first child they come quick , she prob didn’t feel much but a backache before the baby came. All I felt with my first daughter was backache pain and she was born within hours
Glad the baby is ok. And mom and dad went straight home.
Thank you finally someone who understands that being pregnant is not the end of the world. A man could not handle the pain. And I am sure she would have been going home or to where ever soon. People have to say some of the dumbest stuff about everything. I have 3 kids all natural and one was at 7 months and was breech knee first and we both almost died. My son does have learning disabilities but other wise fine. He was black from the waist down because of no circulation to his lower body from being pinned in the birth canal. Bad thing it was my 3rd time to the hospital about 40 mins away from Sunday morning until about 2 am in to Monday morning. They done an ultrasound on Sunday morning so they should have saw what was going on. I could not she them because I was on medicade back in 1990 I didn’t have the best husband. I quit working tho at 3 months because it was a bad pregnancy. And I could never have kids again for what ever reason. I had private Dr’s with my first 2 kids and a nicer husband I should say. But any way it is awesome on how you did driving a truck and having your baby. My husband now is a owner operator and I am in my late 50’s and we have combined like 20 grandkids and 2 great grandsons who are twins. And life is wonderful on the road with our for babies. Thanks for posting a wonderful post about this adorable baby.
God bless the mother father and baby period end of discussion.
This is one if the saddest ways to start your life on this planet.
God Bless You Fellow Trucker and Baby Trucker!!!! The Good Lord will Bless You and your family!!!! This is a beautiful story!!!! I am so happy and filled with joy to have heard about this good news!!! Congratulations!!!! Sincerely from a RAFA Flatbed Truck Driver.
Welcome baby Nora, lil trucker
Load delivered!!!
CONGRATULATIONS
I drove up until 6 days before delivery :p my sweet girl is perfect! Its definitely hard so I have a lot of respect for them. No one knows until they have walked in their shoes.
Just my opinion but that far along should be a no-no for expecting women. Too much can go wrong as we all know on a daily basis. As many times as 4-wheelers cut us off, I would not want a pregnant lady to possibly get injured and risk having a miscarriage or worse
Most people have cell phones now days and there are ambulances and hospitals all over so I am sure at 8 months she was about to be going home or some where. Maybe she was going to be having a ceserian planned delivery you never know why she was still on the truck but to me being in a semi is where I would rather be. Who knows there is so many reasons she was still out on the truck. She could have been even going home to her mom’s to have her baby. Look around women are shopping at 9 months some are still driving cars or pick-ups. The great thing is her and that beautiful baby are both fine.
All u truck driver are so smart did anyone think to ask if they have a home to go too she might have not had anyone to stay with and had to work up until the last day she could also they maybe not so lucky as u truck drivers that make so much money doesn’t matter what her and his reason was they might have wanted to be with each other why don’t some close to them make a go fund me page also try to find out who they work for I drive a 1,000.000.00 motor coach for bands and would be glad to donate some money I have always been around truck driver most of my life from 2200 white when I was a kid with my step dad with 36 and 38 foot trailers to double wide sleeper so why don’t we help them back in the day Truck Drivers always helped people Thank the Lord she gave birth

That’s nuthin’ truckers give birth to things at Jim’s truckstop bathroom everyday all the time. 🤡
You know, I hate to burst your bubble, but there are much worse places to have a baby than a truck stop bathroom! Not everyone has the luxury of staying home until the baby is born or not having to travel. My great, great aunt was born in a field and not long after her birth (a couple of hours) her mother went back to work because they had a harvest to pull in. Imagine being born in a literal cabbage patch! Long before the cabbage patch kids came into being!
I’m sorry but I don’t agree with so many of the bathroom stink and got crap literally crap smeared all over the commode and the stall
That’s what’s you call a real Live load
Don’t knock Jim’s. You’re gonna miss it when it’s gone. People who use a bathroom need to keep it clean themselves. The owner should just have to wipe it down. Not scrub and scour and pick up everyone’s mess and carelessness. I’ve never been to Jim’s but I get the picture.
Like the LTD commented. 6 months, the last trimester should not be OTR. However we all have different circumstances.
Nice of The employees to send flowers. I bet some cash, diapers and blankets got sent too.
Glad her and the baby are healthy, but whether 6 month’s or 8 month’s why the heck was she bouncing around in a dang truck pregnant period. No way in hell I’d allow my wife to do that not to mention company liability.
