A trucker who was shot in the chest after an argument with a dispatcher may be shocked to learn that the man who shot him was able to plea down to only 5-10 years in prison for illegally possessing a firearm.
It was Jan. 26th when Giorgi Chuguashvili, a driver for Philadelphia Express Group, was arguing with his dispatcher over his driving assignments. The argument got physical and the dispatcher left work. When he returned later that day, he brought along three friends to help him confront Chuguashvili.
During the confrontation, Chuguashvili was shot once in the chest by one of the dispatcher’s friends, a man named Giorgi Kalandadze. Chuguashvili was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but survived the incident.
The dispatcher claimed that the driver attacked him with a towing chain and in response, Kalandadze shot him.
In exchange for a reduced sentence of 5-10 years, Kalandadze agreed to plead guilty to just one count of illegally possessing a firearm. He was prohibited from owning a gun because he had previously been convicted of robbery.
The dispatcher and his other two friends will go to trial on October 18th.

I can carry a gun?! I want to work at that place!
Sounds like that place might be ran by the Russian mob or maybe KGB lol jeez…
I got that same idea from the names of those involved. As an aside, it shows that there is nothing “justice” about the justice system. The victim is never part of the equation. The state gets its pound of flesh, so to speak, from a perpetrator, but the victim is rarely given proper restitution. Meanwhile, we taxpayers get the bill to warehouse the perp for years. Only the gooberment comes out on top.
Your right. My son was killed in a car accident by a wreck less driver. They only gave the bastard 21 months in jail.I pray that I never see him again.I don’t know if I would he able to control my anger
You got a better temper than i do. I would have tracked that person down and killed him. If the courts want to give me life…. So be it. At least justice prevailed like the way i wanted it to go.
Amen
It is called the “legal system”, not the “justice system”. Ask any lawyer – the is no attempt at service to justice, in the legal system. The is a vague nod to the law, but very little about the law or the legal system, has anything to do with justice. We are taught to believe that it does, as we grow up, but there is no basis for this belief in verifiable fact. Law is passed by popular vote, either in the legislature or at the polls – popularity does not imply justice.
Police enforce law, not justice, and they do so with broad discretionary powers that permit them to completely undermine both law and justice, if they see fit to do so. Prosecutors wheel and deal, and have broad discretionary powers with regard to who they prosecute, and what they charge the defendants with. They also have the benefit of being paid to spend their time doing what they do, while their defendants lose their jobs waiting for trial, even if the charges are completely bogus. Free terrible lawyers are available, but only if you are deemed unable to afford to pay for your terrible lawyer, and the criteria are determined by someone else, not disclosed to you in advance of you financially obligating yourself to pay, and consider only your income – not your existing financial obligations and expenses.
Judges adjudicate law, not justice, and do so with broad discretionary power to throw cases out, throw plea agreements out, unilaterally apply punitive fines and penalties, adjust or deny bail, or create grounds for appeal. They are often appointed for life, and therefore neither chosen by the people, nor removable by the people, and have no virtually accountability whatsoever for their actions or inaction. They can undermine both law and justice in any number of ways, with the broad authority that they wield from the bench, and there is very little that anyone at all can do about it, most of the time.
We are required to trust that our legal system will operate in our best interests, but there is no significant incentive for it to do so, and plenty of incentive for it to operate in it’s own best interests – and no significant enforceable penalty for doing so. And the very most attractive place to be, if you are untrustworthy, is the place in which your victims are required to trust you, and where they are without recourse if you should violate that trust.
If you ever believed that any part of the legal system was focused on doing what was “right”, “moral”, or “just”, you need to take a long, hard look at your assumptions, because there is nothing else upon which to base that belief.
Correct!
Sure sounds like a rough crew…makes me wonder what they’re hauling haha
Is only peat moss in black bags comrade, you no need worry, take Vasillii envelope full of money, you no see anything, da? 😀
there are three kind of people you never trust! Brokers, dispatchers and fleet mgrs! They will all lie to get what they want.
Correct, correct, and correct!
Also lawyers, judges, legislators (starting to see a pattern?), and law enforcement personnel.
3 men against 1 man with a towing chain. the driver is in the right! believe me it is probably going to get a lot worse if the trucking industry does not wise up and realize that dispatchers brokers Corporate America give the truck driver owner operator a small piece of the pie to haul the load. But he is paying responsible for getting it there.
Be polite…and armed at all times.
Lol, dispatch is shooting back now????? Gosh, I guess I better not act the fool in the office!
This is a lousy job. But then, you are supposed to understand that going in.
What happened to the good old days when you just got mad and cleaned out your truck in the yard? That is really the best solution. I can have another job in 5 minutes, why argue? There isn’t any retirement or seniority to fight over ,so why get excited? My hire right file is three inches thick and I don’t have a black mark on it or my license. I had to figure out my own retirement, but that’s always been the case anyway. I probably won’t quit this job anytime soon because I like it here, but I can if I want, although I gotta say, the orientations are getting harder and harder to sit thru,And the B.S. has reached maximum sustained government speeds, other than that it’s a cr@ppy job, enjoy it!
Lol live you truthfully filled comment.
Hey , the dispatcher was protecting himself but when he left and brought back 3 friends he was the one doing the assaulting. He and his friends should get at least 20-25 for this.
It didn’t mention the separate charges for aggravated attempted murder / assault with a deadly weapon. I’m sure he’s looking at more than 10 years.
That driver should sue the company for millions!! That dispatcher is their employee and the company assigned him to that driver!! If their were problems, the company should have reassign another dispatch to the driver!!
That’s right Zoomie. I was a job hopper when I drove. If I was ripped off or I could’t stand a lazy lying dispatcher any longer I moved on. With 22 years of safe driving, companies would fall over themselves to get me to hire on so it made no difference how many companies I came and went from.
WTH, the trigger man should get the Death penalty and the other two should be charged as accomplices. Because he left and came back that is definitely premeditated.
Even in a fight the dispatcher got someone else to do the job for him!
When I used to pull a dump wagon…if we were runnin empty, we were haulin a load of “Dispatcher Brains”
Two guys with the same name. Is Giorgi that common a name, really? Lol
NEVER, NEVER, LEAVE HOME WITHOUT YOUR GUN!!
I like the comments Ican tell a lot of you drivers are old school
Just the way you keep saying dispatch. And dispatchers the companys now want to put fancy names on them like they are someone with power like yard holster who I have always referred to them as yarddogs and now dispatch wants to be referred to as driver leaders are driver managers you know important names for important people it would be ok if thay where human beings lol what a joke this industry has become
Not a big fan of the Sales crowd, either!
“Of course, we can do reefer” (none of the drivers can even spell Thermo-King), “Of course, we can do flat bed” (all the drivers think chains and binders is a s/m thing), “Of course, we can go to X” (doesn’t check to see if the Co. even has authority in “X”), “Of course, we can use Shortest Route for mileage and give you a 10% discount on top of that” (never mind that Shortest Route doesn’t work for anything bigger than a SmartCar–Co. AND driver take that in the shorts!
I’m not saying this against the drivers–lots of excellent drivers just don’t have reefer/flatbed experience…it’s just that the Sales crowd wants that almighty commission regardless of how they get it!
Shawn is right on–and it’s not just in trucking. Look at these kids with business cards–EVERYONE has some 5 word title! Assistant Clerical Organisational Administrative Specialist (file clerk) Reproduction Services Administration Specialist (makes Xerox copies) Associate Logistics Tracking and Tracing Services Specialist (dispatcher) Assistant Stationary Equipment Sanitation Specialist Manager (sweeps out empty trailers) Assistant Mobile Equipment Sanitation Specialist Manager (runs tractors thru the wash). Oh, and speaking of Sales….they’re all Account Executives!
I used to drive for a large company headquartered in TN. They wanted their drivers completely defenceless. I had a .45 within reach anytime I was in the truck.
All dispatchers have the same middle initial –L–cause their middle name is all “Liar”.
