UPDATE: Police are now saying that this incident may not have occurred at all. The following is from a statement issued by the Maine Department of Public Safety:
“After collecting physical evidence, digital evidence and conducting follow-up interviews, troopers have determined that the alleged shooting of a tractor trailer by a passing motorist and subsequent robbery did not occur as it was reported.”
ORIGINAL STORY:
A trucker driving on I-95 was shot at and then robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
According to a Maine Public Safety spokesperson, an unnamed driver was hauling a load of water coming from a Poland Spring facility in Lincoln, Maine. The driver told troopers that two men opened fire on him as they drove past him near the Mattamiscontis-Howland town line.
The driver pulled over and was dragged out of his truck by the men. He was then robbed at gunpoint.
Authorities describe the robbers’ car as a red sedan with a light gray driver’s side door.
Authorities did not say if they have any suspects at this time. Anyone who saw the incident occur should call the Maine State Police Bangor barracks at (207) 973-3700.
This is believed to have been an isolated incident.

Thanks, that’s a great comment. I ve been driving 50 years and it’s sad to watch the way adults act behind the wheel. Its not a crime to let someone over if they are signaling and yep sometimes people realize at the last moment they are in the wrong lane to exit. Not a killing offense.
They not in the wrong lane. It’s just how they drive. If u drive daily to work u should know where is your exit not to wait in left lane for last second to exit on right. They do that on purpose

I am a truck driver and it is not easy dealing with people that don’t understand why we can only go 45 miles an hour up a hill on the interstate with a full load. Truck drivers Run America and the world without us America wouldn’t be anything. It would just fall apart. People would starve to death. First off, the days of truckers carrying large sums of cash are long gone. They carry a fuel card. And they are not death traps. A new study shows that almost 90% of fatal accidents between 2015 and 2017 we’re caused by a four wheeler. Us truck drivers just want to get to our stop and go home to our loved ones. Yes we do have those. We are not there just to be in your way. As you are going to work, shopping, to eat, or just for a drive we are at work 24hrs a day to support our families. There is not a truck driver out there without the intention of being safe.
SECOND, I’M RETIRED AFTER 20 YEARS. I CAN TELL YOU I HAVE BEEN RUN OFF THE ROAD MORE TIMES BY TRUCKERS THAN FOUR WHEELERS. HAD GUNS AND KNIVES PULLED ON ME BY ANGRY TRU KERS LOOKING FOR WHATEVER. JUST GLAD TO BE OFF THE ROAD.

Learn your laws. Yes we can have fire arms in our trucks as long as you comply with the local laws. Main is a constitutional carry state. So no problem.

Long time trucker here and I’m not ashamed to admit that 4 wheelers cutting us off , stopping short in front, not allowing Lane changes, pulling out and hoping we crash into them just do they can get a lawyer to sure for easy buck has a tendency to make dinner trucker’s road rage escalate.80,000 lbs isn’t easy to stop and harder to regain our speed especially when heading up an incline.
