Additional Information Provided By The School:
Local 251 states: “Our training is different than at other schools. We emphasize giving the students exposure to the trucks and pre-trip before starting their classroom education. We start with 2 weeks of hands on training: (Straight line backing, and observing senior students doing pre-trips every morning for 2 hours.) On the 3rd week of the program, the students do the first week of classroom. By that time, they have a frame of reference, since they’ve already observed pre-trip for two weeks. On the 6th week, they will earn endorsements on doubles, triples, tankers, and hazmat. The last week of program is the evaluation. If a student doesn’t pass the first time, there is no extra charge for extra training.” Students are initiated as teamsters upon enrollment.
