I agree. What a mess. What amazes me is that without trucks, the world as we know it, our entire economy could collapse- There would simply be no goods to purchase, not to mention all of the jobs that would be lost. Messing with the flow of this is a bad idea.

It also amazes me that since trucks are so essential to our economy, the trucking industry really has zero power. Yet the pharmaceutical and tobacco industries weild complete power over the government. I guess the trucking industry doesn't have the money or lobbyists to control policy like the others do.

So if your truck doesn't do what they say that it should, spend a ridiculous amount of money to be compliant in an industry that already has incredibly tight margins. Have a product that has been proven to positively kill people, in an industry that has outrageous profits, put a warning label on the package. That sounds about right.

They can ban all the trucks they want but that's not the root cause of the problem here. How will we even know what difference this whole statewide ban will make? Is it measureable? I don't think we will ever know..

 

They know that nobody will even try to do it because the application and compliance paperwork is so overwhelming. If you are not already registered as exempt then forget it, you are not going to be allowed to use the 5000 mile exemption.

How has the argument worked out for the trucking industry? I dont think very many soccer moms in suburban America really care about the fact that everything in their home came by truck. What she cares about is the supertrucker with his Texas bumper riding 18 inches off her rear end on the freeway while she's trying to haul her brood to school in the minivan.

 

I think you need to look around they are complaining and the rest is too broke to get on internet

 

The pharmaceutical and tobacco industries are predominately controlled by a handful of companies that have similar interests and spend a huge some of money on lobbying.

If the trucking industry could unite for a common good they might have similar power.

Unfortunately the majority of the people in this industry do not think beyond there own pocket, weather it be large or small.

Would the mega carriers ever work with the small companies or owner operators for the common good.

 

I read were can only do the 1000 miles for cali,not the 5000miles ,for the 1000 miles you have only time this year for you application last day is 12/31/2012

 

The 5,000 miles and other things are the new changes that are in the works

I have an 87' pete 362 cabover , I maintain it,Baby It, And Been its owner since 1992. I pull a 48' old utility Flatbed with it


It will be a Cold day in He11 before I give up my Equipment or civil rights to ANYONE.

My truck has put my kids thru College, paid Off my Home,Raised a Family,And has put plenty in the bank.

At my Age , Its just not feasable to buy a $140,000 TRUCK.dont make any sense

And Yes..I will still travel to California If I choose Whether they Like it or not. Im getting too old for this horsechit ,sloppy legislating enforcements. let us Truckers do our job and Leave us alone.
