I called about a similar job here in STL awhile back, just for tiities and giggles. About the same wage you said, little to no benefits, and working nights all run out of some nasty job trailer in a dirt lot in the ghetto. Probably was at once a decent job, filling up U.P trains, but they went with non-union drivers instead. Don't want to turn this into a union debate but it sure makes it hard to fight for better wages when you have places like this out there. Guys are talking about striking where I'm at now, and I really don't want any part of that but what am I gonna do?

 

Maybe they just can't say something that there asking for. Something IS better than nothing. Some job seekers have unique circumstances.

These low paying jobs should be for the new drivers. After a couple of years they can start to work their way up. The problem is that there isn't much after that.

The problem is that the pay isn't much different for someone with two years of experience or over twenty years of experience.

 

Smh everyone can't do ANY better than that due to most of the time their background. Seven beats five and four in a sweat shop. Some people can't use competition in their favor like the rest of us. Only thing is when someone who is not in that situation takes that job and validates the pay. Go to know your situation. Out!
