Trade in program for old rig?

I think it was, "too good to be true". We can argue about make/model/engine but I think we can all agree that W900s of any age really don't sit around waiting to be sold. Even older W9s in rough shape get scooped up.

The truck was a "unicorn" if you will and would of had local guys pounding on the door with cold hard cash. Pre "everything" W900 in good condition. Even if you needed a day cab, that age truck would be worth the conversion costs to certain users.

 

I think you need to travel through the northern states of the midwest and the PNW, cause there's thousands of those and 379's up for grabs.

 

Going back and forth isn't going to be worth it. I'm sure there are trucks available but if they were as readily available as you stated, guys wouldn't be discussing trying to unturn every rock to find one.

 

You don't need to turn over any rocks. Pick up a truck paper or equipment trader or auction rag from that area, thousands to choose from.

 

And the ones not beat half to death are selling for a mint.

 

Seems like a common denominator in many is a rebuilt CAT. Most are near 1.5 to 2 million miles. 40K best offer all day. All shapes and sizes.

I'm thinking the rebuilt kitty just isn't the same as the original.

Depends. Im not modern a cat fan but show new paperwork on a recent cat certified platinum overhaul and its as good, if not better, as it was the day the truck got shipped out of the plant.

That's what many claim to have. 4 mpg guarantee too.

 

Maybe pulling wide or real heavy. But put a guy that cares about fuel mileage in one, running legal weights and size and its easily 6 mpg. I used to get 6.5 over all average out of my 3406 when I ran Florida to Washington/Oregon. Light going out and loaded to grits or just over gross cooking back. When fuel was a buck a gallon I got 5 or under cause it didn't cost enough to even care about, but once it got close to two bucks I started caring and stopped trying to be the first one to the top of the hill.
