Jds-Gung ho, you will do the same thing. Once you get through orientation, you will forever disapear from this forum. You will not let anyone know how things turned out. Your whereabouts will be a mystery.
jdsgungho Thanks this. -
To the trucker twilight zone i will go!?!?! I know these guys are busy and have their plates full, and although i dont really need any comforting, it's nice to hear everything is going well from those that went before you.
I did eight years in the corps and know that they come and go, and thats just the way it is.
Thanks for putting things in perspective !!! Because i probably will do the same thing, even if i say i wont! lol
God bless ,guys! -
My husband is not one to type much so I will give you the scoop. Most of the class went home on Wednesday after orientation....Orientation was basically just going over the benefits and such. Most everyone is scheduled to go out on Monday with a trainer. My husband's trainer said that he may get to come home around 2 times during the 5 weeks.
He did say that for anyone who gets their feelings hurt easy is going to have it rough. He said that Bill was a fantastic teacher but that if you messed up he didn't mind telling you about it. Any other questions? I will be online for a while tonight. -
I have to attend mti school first. I have a few questions, How is your hometime? and can a new driver get on a dedicted run? How often do you have to unload, or mostly drop & hook. any millis drivers, your insight is appreciated, and any advice for a new driver i would like to hear it. Thanks

So, Tedrow, I seem to re-call hubby was going to go home after orientation/before start of training to take a break. Has he changed his plans and going straight to training? Just curious. :smt065

No he (my hubby) came home since his trainer wasn't ready for him. He had another trainee until Thursday and orientation let out at 11:30 on Wednesday. So, he is supposed to be leaving on Monday afternoon.

They get you home whenever you want provided you give 7 days notice. Depending on where you live you may get through the house for your 10 hr breaks once in awhile too. No, new drivers are all over the road. I'd say a good 75% drop and hook.

echo, it's monstly all drop and hook, with some live unloads. I just had my first driver unload last week, but it was my last stop on a 3 drop load and it was only 4 pallets. had to use a pallet jack. as far as going home, well im not going to bad mouth the company, just my dispatcher. when i was with my trainer dispatcher going home was no problem, once i got my permanent dispatcher everything was good up until recently. I was scheduled to go home at 7:00 a.m. last saturday my dispatcher sent me with a load up to Trenton OH on friday, and I live in GA. I got stuck there all weekend and did'nt get to go home. Bad thing was that my daughter had her second birthday on Sunday and I missed it because my dispatcher did'tget me home, he got one of his loads delivered which was important to him but did'nt do much for me. Other thing was that this was a Friday and he went home for the weekend then had the following week off for vacation. So long storry short, he got his hometime with his family and I did'nt. Needless to say, I'm not on his board now I got a new dispatcher.

srick hate to hear about you having a hard time getting home like that if you dont mind which dispatched did you end getting this time. there is one or two that dont care about home time they will just get you home when ever they feel like
