When you have those days it's about seeing the big picture. If the big picture isn't appealing, then it's time to hang something else above the mantle.

    This.
I’ve been hourly for a while now. I get paid for 40 hours a week even if the truck doesn’t move that week. Gotta love snow days.
I make the same amount driving 5, 10 hour days before overtime that I did driving 7, 10 hour days on a cpm rate.
Overtime starts after 40 hours. I normally hit that around Thursday at noon.

While I take offense to your avatar, yes, there are things about Wisconsin that suck, but but it was home for 64 years, and I did a lot of trucking in Minnesota, with awful results. Terrible drivers. Anyway, naturally, by the hour is the way to go. I had 15 minutes from clock in to driving, and when done, same thing, 15 minutes to get "off the clock". While it can have it's pluses, there are a few downsides. Generally, there's no overtime, and the boss is constantly hounding you about your time, why this took so long, and such. That get's mighty old, trust me. Still, the best way to drive a truck. Naturally, the farther away you go, the less chance of hourly pay.
