Everything I've personally heard about the MX series is that if you delete them you should never up the HP.

Go ahead and remove all those potential emission issues but keep the HP down because as soon as you start cranking it is when the doors open to a whole new list of potential issues.

Id be leary of the shop doing the work on the deleted truck if they are unaware of the modifications. Not a good idea imo.

naww I didn't delete it to be a hot rod.. I had never heard of deletes before I got this truck. I was having continuing emissions related problems BPV, knox sensors, this , that, egr.. the truck would only run a couple days before it would shut down. then a few days later would be running again.. thot I had a ghost in the machines... lol so a mechanic told me since all the problems were emissions related to just delete it. he said it would fix my issues.. turned out after I had it deleted the truck would still only run when it wanted to.. finally after much frustration and time..i found out that it was a power supply to the ecm.. intermittent short that finally became a permanent short.. so the power supply short was just enough that it still got 4 volts but not enough to send to all sensors and back to ecm so kept reading those things as being bad.. Kenworth dealer didn't even catch that with their computers before I had it deleted..

yeah when the dealer changed the head they said since it was not an emissions related job that they could do the work.. however the parts would not be warrantied.. they told me they could warranty their labor only but because it was deleted that they couldn't warranty parts.. so I let them.. now theyre telling me that they wont warranty labor either.. not even a year later but only about 30K miles since .. they suck.. they should honor their word. think I might call Kenworth corporate or something.. been talking to a mechanic today that deals a lot with paccar.. I asked him that since the engine is supposed to be able to be turned up to 510hp or so that shouldn't the head gasket and or the head itself be able to handle the power? or is there a stronger gasket that is supposed to be used? he said naww the heads and gaskets are the same but a lot of times people get their trucks turned way up to like 600 or 650 or so.. in that case its way too much head pressure.. this ecm is supposed to be at 510.. whish is within tolerance levels.. but as another person posted here.. I guess without using a dyno I wont know for sure what its really putting out.. I never drove a 600 .. my friend has a 550 twin turbo cat that I drove.. my truck isn't even close by my opinion to the power his truck has.. this mechanic also said that some folks doin the mechanical part of the delete don't do it right.. that the need to open up the exhaust more... my guy drilled out the dpf filters and crap.. so that the extra heat generated by more power doesn't make problems.. I don't have the before and after turbo gages that u talk abt so I am not sure if I have increased exhaust heat or not.. cant remember the name of that gage now... brain block.. but from oil and water temp gauges my truck is running cooler than it was before the delete.. pyro.. that gage.. I don't have one..

The minute kenworth coperate finds out you engine is deleted they will no longer care. If kw does not want to warranty anything because its deleted there isnt much you can do.

I really don't think its the hp.. my friend has a pete with he says is a 550 twin turbo cat.. ive driven it quite a bit.. seems to me that thing has more power to spare than mine puts out even after being turned up.. maybe because its a cat?? lol so im thinking it was intitially because my engine got hot.. then after the head change it started out as a cold water leak.. which has progressed.. im praying that its just bad workmanship.. was a younger guy that did the job and I really think that he just didn't do a good job..maybe he didn't torque down in proper sequence or something.. got in a rush.. whatever..

yeah I know wat you mean.. but the dealer knew it was deleted.. no sense in lying to em about it cause as you said soon as they plug into it they would know.. I told em abt it before and explained everything before they agreed to do the work.. they were also the dealer I took the truck to when I first started having issues with it right after I bought it.. before it was deleted.. so they are familiar with me and the truck.. maybe that's why they agreed to do it.. also maybe they felt some sympathy for me and my plight.. or so I wanted to believe.. might've been naïve of me
