    Dear Carrier,

We wanted to make you aware that we have uncovered a breach of our IT systems. This breach compromised the security of our online portals for many of our carriers. We believe that external hackers gained access to your tax ID number, bank account numbers, and invoice information, including amounts and dates.

One of our highest priorities has been and continues to be the security of your information, so we have set up several ways for you to get more information. For general FAQs updated with the most recent information, visit www.tql.com/carrierhotline. For additional questions, email our carrier response team at [email protected]. Or you can call our dedicated hotline at 800-822-5980.

We have taken immediate steps to close security gaps in our systems, hired a third-party cyber security firm for additional forensics, and conducted testing to confirm the adequacy of our security protocols. We're also actively working with law enforcement to investigate this breach.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern we know this causes you. We would recommend that you contact your financial institution immediately, letting them know your bank information has been exposed. They will be able to advise you on the best next steps to further protect you and your information.

If you have additional concerns, you can visit FTC's website at IdentityTheft.gov.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Sincerely,

    Kerry Byrne
    President/Total Quality Logistics

And they knew about it 4 days ago and I just got the email today....

    What happened?
On Sunday, February 23, 2020, we confirmed a data breach of our IT systems which compromised the security of our online portals for carriers. We know the hackers gained access to information in some of our carrier accounts, including, in many instances, tax ID numbers and bank account numbers.

We are still gathering details, but it appears it was initially an information/data phishing attempt. Our IT security teams identified the issue quickly and countered immediately to secure all online information. We’re confident any access the hackers had to TQL’s systems has since been blocked.

I literally just opened a Vanguard IRA account this morning.....which takes 4 or 5 days to process....which will probably now turn into a cluster *(^%%# because I just placed a credit freeze on myself through all 3 reporting agencies! TQHELL as usual.

Companies should be required to have an impartial third party cyber security firm "battle test" their networks regularly. They should also be required to randomize which companies they use, so there's no improprieties. These data breaches are happening too often and the consumer is the one left holding the bag.

All it takes is one employee clicking a link in an email that appears no different than any other email they receive from inside the company. Once they do that, depending on the malware, most of the corporate IT is at risk.

Blame the idiots clicking on links also.
