Lease Purchase?

I really did some research and made countless projections while considering the lease program my company offers and best case scenario I average $1,100-1,300 a week after expenses but before taxes without any home time running ~2,800 miles a week.

Every lease guy I've talked here that does well are all driver trainers. They get paid an extra $100 a day to "train" our noobies coming out of our CDL program and they've all said it wouldn't be worth it if they didn't train for the extra money.

I have no bills besides my cell phone and subscriptions so I think I'm just going to save $400 every week for the remainder of the year and then find a road worthy used truck and lease on to Landstar. That's if I still want to pursue the path of being an O/O.

The good thing about my company is that the lease payments aren't anywhere near $1,000+ a week like some others and it's a walk away lease back to being a company driver. But they rip you to shreds on all of the other weekly deductions for escrows. The training pay alone will cover our tractor payments unless we lease a brand new truck for $750. I'm just not sure if I'm willing to share my truck and train burger flippers shoved through our CDL program for a few extra hundred a week than what I'd make staying a company driver.

 

Which company is this? If you have no control over your revenue, i wouldnt recommend doing a lease?

I make a little more money than a company driver but not enough to get excited about. For me its about being successful at a business I enjoy.

Takes planning and discipline but being your own boss is its own special reward.

 

I leased from TransAm and JCT, didn't train, didn't have an issue making money with either. But, single with no kids and no major expenses so nothing to keep me from staying out 3-6 months at a time and practically live in the truck. Not saying those companies were great, they did have other serious issues, but the money was there.

Savings from both provided the 15k down payment for the truck I know own. Admittedly I could have paid more, but quite a bit of money went to 'toys' and other stuff. $2000 camera lens, $1500 laptop, new roof and washer/dryer for my mothers house, etc. Optional spending.

 

Dam right!!!! You know how many drivers are so pissed off to the world??? And they blame to every other race for making their own stupid decisions!!!! Think about it . We vote blindly for liars to run the country and we blame our neighbors. We can easily change what we don’t like for the well being of this industry , but we don’t have the balls to sacrifice #### !! And the easy way is to blame some one else .

 

Good. But if you have your own authority and have a steady, or dedicated customer, you are married to that deal..most of the time. I can very well do all that you mentioned. Take off anytime, choose where I go, all of it. You take 3 weeks off and you customer will get someone else to run it. Agree lots of mad and disillusioned truckers. As far as voting in liars, finding honesty and integrity is rare.
