I’ve only been back OTR for 2 months after a six year hiatus and the writing is on the wall. Most if not all major OTR companies will eventually become team only operations. Hell, I met a driver in ABQ who drives for a small fleet and he told me they’re even de facto penalizing solo drivers with less mileage to incentivize then to team up. Combine that with ELD slavery and it doesn’t take long to realize this isn’t what it used to be for the solo driver...

Covenant is a pretty low-paying company. Get some experience if you need it and sell it to a higher bidder. Money may not be everything, but it's a lot.

Is $1000 bucks per week minimum bad money for driving a company truck and paying for nothing out of pocket except food and occasionally parking? We usually drive 4 to 6 k per week, so min pay is for sitting on our butts playing video games if we ever get paid that. There is also the team bonus every 3 months, and the quarterly safety bonus, and the school payback plan. Matching 401k so my pay is actually a bit more if you count the free money there. I'm a paid tourist, taking home time anywhere in the country I want to. In a brand new truck.
Where else does a first year driver go and get the bonuses that this company offers? And no one else has my team. They are the best!
I guess the bad part is that we are a team operation, and some ppl just dont play nice with others, lol.TGwaltney89, Vic Firth, LoSt_AgAiN and 3 others Thank this.
