Is there anyone else that thinks EOBRs are going to limit their productivity so much that trucking becomes too difficult to justify all the crap we have to deal with and, like me, are considering quitting trucking?
Because whether we like it or want, EOBRs are coming!
Am I the only 1 to think that EOBRs are going to keep me from making $???

Let em come.... Then people will be able to scream & cry like the babies they are because they don't have their precious products on the self....
I think those things are going to screw me.... -
The will screw everything about when they first come out, but after a while pay and travel times will be adjusted.
The hard part will be waiting it out.

I can only speak 4 me, I do whatever I have to to be available as much as possible. I never turn down freight, only go home 2-3 days a month. But at .34 cpm, I cant get ahead! If I have to be legal, I am screwed.
BTW, no car payment or credit cards, just the house note and utilities. oh yeah 4 teenage kids who are killing my food budget! -
Truckerdave in the long run Markk9 is right pay and travel times will improve, but it'll be screwed up in the beginning. That''ll mean the shippers and recievers will load/unload quicker since most of them don't want or have the room for truckers to park for a 10.

I am retired now, but eobr's are not going to be the great savior that some drivers think they are. Shippers and receivers are not going to change their schedule to accomodate the eobr. Trucking companies will have to adjust and logistics will become a major headache. Gonna give a scenario here to illustrate. Driver unloads at 8 AM. Dispatched on a load at 12 noon. Pick up is 130 miles away and the receiver wants the load there at 8 AM the next AM. No problem right. The receiver is 575 miles away. Eobr will make you shut down at 10 PM. End of story, No fudging, no I'll deal with it later, etc. Most dispatchers are not logistics trained nor are most load coordinators. Eobr's are gonna cause so many logistical problems and nightmares people will be screaming "to let them truckers roll". I'm glad to be retired now and not have to deal with this industry. It just makes me sick at what the companies have done to drivers and the industry itself. Yes I blame a lot of the problems on the management. When I was driving if you told them you were leaving they wanted to know why. Today don't let the door hit you in the a on the way out. What a shame!
Wiseguywireless, old-school, kajidono and 1 other person Thank this. -
The scenario you descfibe is exactly why drivers are going to go broke! That 1 day run (using creative logging) has turned into a 2 day run! The same amount of pay now takes twice as long to earn! Or you could look at it as a 50% pay cut!
And if you think there is a parking problem now...Brickman Thanks this. -
IMHO the EOBR's won't be the best thing since sliced bread nor will they be a complete failure. I'm just saying for the most part they''ll be an much needed improvement. Stepn many said the same thing you are about the Qualcomm, but that piece of equipment has done more good than bad.
-
Now consider this scenario....
What if the
EOBR's are set-up to not allow you to move your truck after the HOS are used up or......a signal is sent via a transmitter to the nearest DOT unit in the area.....
Cameras in the cab and sleeper are not far behind either.... -
And if that happens.... I want it password protected & pay per view.
