Flatbed vs Conestoga

What do you plan on hailing? Are to running local, regional, or for?

 

What freight do you have lined up?

Conestoga can make a killing on straight thru hurry up we need this there yesterday and are willing to pay for it 8ft tarp jobs. A conestoga can be in and out before i find the right tarp. on stuff where every minute counts for making your same day unload appointment, a tarp cant compete with conestoga.

But if youre just hauling sticks and bricks cheap then why bother? So making it pay depends on your freight connections.

 

I haul nothing but steel locally, 100 mile radius type deal. The vast majority of us just have sidekits. I know that's s little outdated according to most, but it's much cheaper than a connestoga, faster and easier than a flat, and other than a major mistake happening, it's cheap and easy to maintain. Replacing two boards and a stake is much easier and cheaper than replacing a full panel on a connestoga. Just my 2¢.

 

Including machinery in the mix, I'd definitely go open flat. If the steel is mainly coils, get a few coil bags done up.

 

I'm still running a side kit on a 25 yearold trailer.

 

If you are running regional steel, a conestoga is the only way to go... in my opinion of course.

I have between 20-30 drops a week over 2 regional milk runs and it is a game changer. No time for tarps! Heres your stuff cya next week, gotta go gotta go. 10-20 mins a drop and gone.
