Torn between 2 radios....

they both should work and as for antennas what ever you buy should be at least 4 foot long .... coax stick with a good coax like RG-8X and you should be good to go ....

 

Those 2 radios are basically the same thing with different names. Some people prefer the unidens, some the cobra. I personally like the looks of the uniden that has the orange backlighting better myself. Performance standpoint you can do the same things to them both and achieve the same results with either one.

 

the lighting is nice but orange looks so so in the dark. i would get the uniden thou

 

How old is that coax ?
Anything over two years is pretty well "junk" IMO
Never use "Used" on any new install,again IMO.

 

29 black chrome is the radio preferred by most of the cb shops supposidly has a different board than the other 29's

 

While this may not be in time to help out the original poster, keep in mind the following. Cb radios come up on sale and sometimes it is an annual thing. T/A has had a sale on Cobra 29's this past May and June of both years 2008 and 2009. Pilot had a sale on Midland 5001Z's in March and April of 2009. Pilot also had a sale on compact Midland 1001Z's in July and August of 2009. Last year, 2008, in either August or September[ sorry I do not recall which month], the Uniden PC 78 was reported to be on sale at a Love's travel stop.
Shop around for the best deal.

 

I wouldn't make a major purchase like a CB or GPS at a truck stop unless I lived in the truck and had no home or hometime.

Go with the Cobra.
