I've seen some pretty #### strange stuff to, back in '01 every other week I was running containers from Denver to Port of Houston, La Porte. Running legal it's 28 hrs down, 28 hrs back. Normally I would drive straight through and not stop until I hit Houston then grab about a 5 hr nap before heading to the Port. This one trip, it was last minute, I had come in figuring I was gonna work local, 2 hrs into my day the boss calls me on the radio and asks how soon I can be ready to leave for Houston. I told him as soon as the can was ready, he said the cutoff was the next day at 3pm. Drove straight through, got unloaded, then he told me to head to Galveston to pickup, and was on my way back by 4pm. About 4am I was almost to Boise City, Ok. when I swore that I saw millions of tiny white people dancing on my hood. Then they started to jump into my windshield, I commented on the CB about this to the guy behind me and he told me it was quarter size hail. Needless to say, I stopped in Boise City and slept for a solid 10 hrs, in fact I slept through another hail storm.

Another time, after a long weekend of yard work and very little sleep, running across US 160 in SW Colorado I swore I was being spotlighted and trying to outrun the spotlight. Finally after passing another truck and having him yell at me on the CB, I realized it was a full moon. I stopped at the first place I could find to park the truck and too about 5 hr nap.

Never saw a black dog, unless I owned one at the time. However, I did participate in a sleep deprivation study in college once. Stayed up for a week straight on pizza, Jolt, and cigarettes. Still can't stand the taste of Jolt anymore. Anyway, the hallucinations got pretty intense after day three, and by day five my emotional control was completely gone, man. Took 72 hours of downtime to return to even a semblance of normal. Sleep Good! Fatigue BAD!! If you are fatigued, your body and your brain are trying to sleep. This means that among other things, your brain is trying to enter "dream mode". This dream state while you are awake is believed to be the cause of the hallucinations people experience during exhaustive states. Know your limits, and get proper rest before you run down the road. Better to be late, than dead, ya?

Not something you should aspire to either, unless you're really into masochism. :biggrin_25513:
