Thoughts on Wood Pellet Outdoor Cooking Stove?

why not get a small wood pellet grill? Then you can use it for grilling steaks...etc. Too

 

I like the cool factor of this stove and it would be fun to use while camping with free time. In a truck or on the road, though, why not go with a lot faster and cleaner option? The single butane stoves you mentioned are awesome. Canned fuel for them is $4 at Walmart. The stoves themselves are $20 or so on Amazon. You don't really need much if any ventilation with them. They are plenty safe to use on the counter in the back of your truck if you are careful.

Also, you could get a little backpacker stove and a can of fuel, also from Walmart or any outdoor store. I use one backpacking. They are super cheap on Amazon and will boil water quicker than you can say it.

An open flame inside a truck is a really bad idea.

 

I had a roll of paper towels still in the plastic wrapper fall of the upper shelf and onto the electric hot plate I had just removed the pan from and turned off.

I had a tense 20 seconds before I got it under control.

I wanted an indirect cooktop after that

 

I had to look it up because I had never heard of it. I have an electric hot plate that I use infrequently. I thought it would be safer than an open flame but not 100% safe. I'll have to look into getting something like that.

 

Hotplate was the word I was looking for, I was having a JoeBiden moment.
If i had stepped out of the truck when this happened it woulda been Toasty Truck.

 

ANY open flame/high heat source inside your truck is a BAD thing. It only takes your shorts, TP, blanket....etc, touching that flame/heat source to cause a fire.

 

I'm using butane stove for over 10 years in my truck and nothing BAD happened, just make sure your brain is in gear before you using it. I buy butane fuel at my Korean store, 4 packs for a $4, really cheap, Walmart sells single for like $3. I don't use that stove every day but it comes handy. Also I have APU.
