I am of the same mind, the problem is that some reefers contain high dollar pharmacy loads. Unlike Mexican trucks the drivers life has no value to anyone in the USA and tractors have no armor. We cross that bridge if we get to it.
IF we find it necessary to reefer the dead to crematories or what not then the attackers will learn a very hard lesson when they find that the trailer contains their sons, daughters, fathers and mothers and so on.
The United States ConGov and Plans 3400, 3500 and 3600 ensures that we will get through this. Its ready to go at a moment's notice for the remainder of this year. It started last week when all Uniforms are confined to base. Northcomm HQ in Seattle has overall Homeland Military Command, having designated the lower 48 a formal battlefield.
If we behave and stay together as a society and do not engage in that kind of arnachy or civil war etc we will be ok and have nothing to fear.
Unfortunately time and time ago truckers roll into a hot spot and they are truly going into harms way. I personally will not go out without adequate arms and ammunition along with a few other things as well (Med kit and various GSW oriented devices along with the BP, Pulse ox and surgeons civil war kit and suture bag.)
I would very much prefer not to think about these things. Life is somethng truly special even in difficult times. Nothing but good thoughts and do your best to help others however you can, provided you do not allow a opening to where you can get hurt by the evil.
The Military will be welcome if they come out to build MASH Tents and other supportive ways. We are going to have need of them.JC1971 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -

Yeah my next load is in the downtown Chicago and delivers at 3 AM. I got to drive through about 10 miles of ghetto to get to the receiver. I’ve been there once before during normal times and it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. The load before that was in Philadelphia. In a year and a half I’ve been with this company, I went to those places once each. Now they’re sending me their over and over. Why? Because they’re getting double if not triple the normal rate. So they stick it on the new guy. That said, I’m not really gonna complain because what other job are you going to get right now in this mess?

It actually isn’t. Fellow Americans are in need, put ones personal interest behind and do what’s right.kemosabi49 and roshea Thank this.

Meh, they were all but ready to replace us 3 weeks ago. Waiting on that Google truck, built by Elon Musk. Might be our last chance to negotiate a raise in driver pay.
You do realize we will eventually get sick? Maybe 10% of the drivers will be struck down? Those that don't get sick will have to pick up the slack. And likewise increase their risk.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
The governor of California just announced that he estimates over the next eight weeks more than half of the population of the state of California will contract this virus. That’s just insane to me with the measures that are being taken. So yes, a bunch of us are probably going to get sick. This virus has to be more contagious and have more ways to infect us than what they’re letting us believe. We travel all over the country and that we have to go in and out of truck stopped getting our coffee, taking a crap, buying snacks and interacting with people in a central location where everybody comes from everywhere. Of course a bunch of us are going to get sick. And sadly, I hate to say it is unhealthy As a lot of drivers are out there a lot of us ain’t coming back.

A shutdown even for just a day would see HOS changes happen overnite.
A two day shutdown could see a permanent shift in rates/detention pay legislated.D.Tibbitt, x1Heavy and Lennythedriver Thank this. -
I’m all for contributing to my fellow citizens, but the reality is truck drivers could bring this country to its knees right now if we wanted to. Were the only glue holding things together at all right now. It amazes me when I’m out there driving the last few days how many truckers I see pulled over by troopers and stuff. Probably for petty crap or just to do inspections. I think the forces that be would be well advised to leave us alone right now unless it’s something really bad.D.Tibbitt and Down the road Thank this.
