I’m going to throw in my experience just so any that might be taking the possibility of infection lightly might consider washing their hands for an additional 10 seconds.
There is considerable suggestion that the virus might have been moving around the world well before it became headline news here in the United States.
First, I’m a pretty health guy. Never a hospitalization, no medications, rarely sick and then only once every few years for a day or two, non smoker, non drinker, early 50’s. In early January after a 6 hour flight to San Juan I started an 11 day southern Caribbean cruise. 3 days in I stated to feel poorly. It started with a weird headache behind my eyes with a little bit of a runny nose. Within 24 hours I had fever, chills and a sore throat like I’d never, EVER experienced. Then the congestion started. My lungs felt like they were being compressed by a belt and I was coughing up copious amounts of absolutely vile stuff. It worked it’s way up into my head and ears to where I was waking up with both eyes crusted shut. I was bolting up in the middle of the night gasping for air from the congestion. I know the description is gross but I just want to assert.... if you are a smoker or otherwise compromised..... this WILL (can) kill you. I feel confident it almost got me. I self isolated for the duration of the trip, got home still sick, was essentially blown off by a doc in the box (flu negative) , but got through it. It took weeks. All of this to say...while I can’t confirm I had it, I think it’s likely. You don’t want it.
Let me reiterate. This was before corona made US headlines. It wasn’t on my radar or anyone else’s at the time.
What’s your plan.....

And over 80% of those cases require no hospitalization .
If your healthy with no immune compromised symptoms your good to go. Doctors are saying to eat healthy and get plenty of rest to combat it.BackwoodsGA Thanks this. -
You just described exactly what I had the first week of December last year. And I am in the same health category. I even went to a hospital and was tested for strep throat and the flu, all came back negative.
two weeks later I was fine. -
I came down with the same thing the 1st of the year down here in Florida. 56 healthy nonsmoker..It took me 7 weeks to kick it.And that was after taking antibiotics a buddy gave me. Only the second time in my life taking antibiotics .Never went to the doctor.

I have an autoimmune disease (on low dose chemo and stelara) otherwise I am healthy. Not overweight, no high blood pressure, etc) I caught the flu over Christmas / New years. Within 2 days I was in the hospital with Pneumonia. Yes, I did get the vaccinations for flu and pneumonia.
Now with this going on. I wear a mask and gloves when I get out of the truck. Wash my hands and disinfect my truck everytime I stop.(my Dr recommended these precautions) My husband wears the mask and gloves to protect me.
Other truck driver's look at me like I am crazy and some have smirked. I don't care though. My health is important to me.
So next time you see someone with a mask that looks healthy, they probably have a autoimmune disease and are just trying to stay healthy.scottied67, joshuapowell61, Numb and 2 others Thank this. -
