Our Intelligence obviously knew way ahead of time, what’s been going on in other Countries. And the risks it poses to Us. It’s no coincidence, the way it’s unfolding, we’re being spoon fed just enough a little at a time. Probably for the best. Panic in the streets worldwide chaos is the last thing we need. They need to slow the spread, so the system can absorb it. Half of Us will end up with it eventually. The number of deaths depends on whether treatment is available or not. That’s the only thing that makes it so dangerous, the amount of resources available vs need.
National 2 week quarantine??

You're thinking the same as me. I already told the woman our wagons might sit while we haul toilet paper.

I don’t like the sound of the shelter in place orders. I’d like to know how taking a walk outside can spread the virus? I can understand limiting gatherings, But ordering everyone to stay indoors, that’s outrageous. I wonder how it’s even Legal. I suppose under Marshall Law if it’s been declared, but how otherwise? No ones asking that question. I sure don’t know, just wondering. I think the powers in charge are more worried about panic and rioting, basically losing control of the population. Once everyone’s quarantined, and under control, they’ll feed Us the bad news. I don’t really believe it, but if it looks like a Duck....

NY isn’t saying you can’t go outside by yourself for a walk or whatever. They want you to stay put tho .
Rideandrepair, TallJoe and PE_T Thank this. -
I already asked the carrier I'm signed on with about this. Got nowhere. Might be ripping their numbers off the door in a week or so.
I'll lose the trailer and all the money I've put into it, but better to lose a trailer than to lose the whole shebang.
I'm kicking around the idea of Schnieder Choice. Just a thought, so far.Midwest Trucker, x1Heavy, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this. -
The shelter in place/stay at home in IL is not forbidding these activities. You can walk the dog, go jogging, walking. Or going to work, if your occupation is considered as necessary and essential by them. They want, what they call, a social distancing.
I am not sure what that means for the likes of us. Perhaps delivering food to places like Costco, WM, is all right. The real problem I see is when you pick up a load and then I go to a receiver that is shut down, and the cargo was a non-essential product. It is rather hard to say what is or what is not. Perhaps picking up a load of dog food may be essential in my book but bird food, not so much
. ....Or a load of freshly cut sod.

Ordinarily, our in town steel gig is pretty solid. Even when everything else grinds to a halt, we keep running, just not as hard. With the auto makers and everyone threatening to lock up, who are our customers going to supply? I swore I'd never put a freight box behind any truck with my name on it but... desperate times, desperate measures. Like you said, better than losing the whole shebang.Super_Trucker, x1Heavy, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this.

Thanks for explaining that. I just heard about Illinois, and wondered. But you bring up my next question, pertaining to loads. I just passed up $3.00 mile Midwest load 250 miles,$750.00. Broker couldn’t tell Me where it was going. Only a grocery warehouse. I’ll wait till last minute. I’ve decided to call Shippers and Consignee, before signing a confirmation sheet. Can’t afford to get my Truck hung up. So I’m wondering how many Brokers are going to be flipping Freight, knowing nothing at all about the Operations themselves. Potential Double Brokering Free For All. Need to protect my own interests. Bad enough I can’t afford time off. Might as welll try to do best I can with the situation.Midwest Trucker, roshea, x1Heavy and 4 others Thank this.
