Parents driving cross country and need advice

The government giving up a source of revenue????

 

No, they just send you a bill in the mail at a later date.

 

Seems like a bad time drive cross country. If they must just take I-80 over to by Scranton PA I-380 to I-84 up to Boston. The I-495 to I 95 to Maine.

They have to get thru Wy and they have been closeing the interstate my time this year because of snow for a couple days. That means sleep and eating in car and bathroom on side of the roads or a bucket.

I'm not sure what the hotel stuff is like know. Most state are take out only on food. Some states like NJ are making then close all restaurant at 8pm I think PA is doing that also. Sounds like your parents must be a little lose in the head or enjoy trouble. They closed the rest area in PA on I-80. States have that stay home rule unless it's essential. Not sure how serious they are about that.

Getting a hotel room seem like it would be a problem. Do they want to sleep in same bed as another person who might have the virus. Hotel would no be someplace I would be sleeping right now. . they don't clean them rooms good on a regular day. Now you got the employees probably not happy to be working. If they even show up to work.

 

If they have to travel it could be done but they have to avoid people.
Use credit cards at the gas pump carry food ,water and your own toilet paper.
Book a room ahead of time. Wear gloves out of the car and disinfect everything.

 

For whats its worth, motels are reopening in PA and all tolls in PA are either EZ Pass or you will get billed based on the license plate number. Tks

I think we are entering a time in which travelers and tourists are seen as a threat by locals in small towns.

And also balanced by human normal need to get out of crowded towns and cities to seek solitude and quiet. So it's a ongoing problem.

 

My advice would be there is nothing you can do.....you can’t fix stupid

 

Right now is probably the best time for them to travel. No traffic and cheap fuel.
