FFE trainers were good. They really want you to learn, not just pass the test. If you are not sure about something. Ask and they will make sure you know.
When doing over the road training if you have any problems let Trecia know. Sometimes students and trainers don't mesh. They understand that and will trade you out if needed.Wasted Thyme Thanks this. -
Did you go with KLLM? I'm in the same boat. Haven't driven in 3 years since graduating for personal reasons. Kllm wants a 6 month 2,000 contract for an 8 day refresher. US Xpress says go with a trainer for 3 weeks then team for 8 weeks..No refresher required & No contract. So pick your poison..reefer or dry van??

How long can you be out of trucking before most companies will require you to go through training or a refresher?
if you take a year off? -
I am in the same boat with OP . Do you guys think these days are safe days to apply or should we wait for a month or so? Because of corona virus.

Do you need a job? Because thats what I'd be most concerned with.

The longest I've been out of the truck was just over 6 months. I applied to Schneider, passed the rigorous physical, did the road test with a guy from Canada who was in Phoenix at their yard. This was before the automatic transmissions were all the rage, just over 3 years ago. The road test was relatively long in time, but the miles were short because of all the road construction going on in Phoenix at the time. I passed everything, although I missed a few shifts initially, but quickly got it down. The backing was wide open and easy. Had a good conversation with the tester during the whole process and passed it. At the time I went through there were only 2 of us doing the orientation.
I've always believed that the insurance companies are the ones who set the requirements of recent experience, how many months OTR in the last 24 months, etc.
My physical expires next March, so hopefully the virus hysteria calms down by then so that I can get back to the USA to do another turn behind the wheel or not, whatever.Lennythedriver Thanks this. -

I went to with C.R England because of my friends work at England said was good at training but to be host they did not give me the reference that they promised me. I told them I don’t feel safe driving a truck after 2 years of not trucking that and my backing is trash. The skills test and road test England made me do feels like a rubber stamp wink wink don’t hit anything or give us a reason to fail you. I am on phase 1 118/180 hours and only got like 2 hours of backing in at all. I feel like just a steering wheel holder not a professional truck driver at all. The amount of time with backing they let me train in phase 1 that with street driving makes me feel like CR England does not want students to get pass phase 1 at all just keep students for cheap.
