Is it doing too much to ask a yard dog to pull a trailer for you

Not too often?
It is seldom in the past 3 or fours years when I have not had to crank it down before I can hook to it.
It seems to always be at least 2 inches too high.

In Atlanta, at a big old grocery wherehouse, When I was a rookie, I offered the yard goat $20 to put it in a super tight dock at night.

 

If its Amazon they'll do it for you just to get you out of there lol

 

Too high trailer is 99% due to clueless OTR drivers. What happens if you push one side of a see-saw down? The other side goes up. What happens when the airbags on a trailer deflate? The nose goes up. Combine that with jagoff drivers cra king the landing gear all the way to the ground, pkus 10 turns for good luck. EVERY OTR driver, unless he has recieved training on this issue, is dropping trailers too high before they drive off and imagine yard dogs are jacking trailers extra high.

But yard dogs do not need to crank it at all.
They roll under it and hook, then raise it up without touching the landing gear.
It is only some of them with some kind of grudge or something.

More often it is the OTR drivers, as you say, because they have not been trained properly.

I dont deal with yard guys to often , actually could probably count on one hand how many places ive been to that even had a yard jockey but i have asked a couple of them to help me out if im having trouble backing up into a spot or something like that. And they always helped me out. Im sure it is like anything else , it is always a few that have bad attitudes

 

Lol or dealt with port workers before
