I have been a driver for 4 years, this is the first time I have had to wait an entire week for a load.
I called dispatch looking for a load for last Wednesday. Dispatch did not return my call until Friday, offering me a load on Sunday.
Load was not ready on Sunday, and got cancelled on Monday. I got offered another load for Tuesday, but the load was delayed for 24 hours. Finally got the load this Wednesday and started driving a full week after requesting a load.
Because of the 24-hour delay, I will miss the Friday morning delivery appointment and will probably have to sit the whole weekend until Monday morning to actually deliver.
Groan.....hallellujah, Texas_hwy_287 and FoolsErrand Thank this. -
My load was delayed for over 24 hours too. Only managed to pick it up this morning. Shipping wouldnt even let me in the building. Everything was done over the phone. There are some dark times ahead for us all.hallellujah, tommymonza and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this.

Flatbed is already in trouble, some just aren't seeing it....yet! Bottom level loads (steel, aluminum, lumber) are drying up quick. As that continues to flow up the supply chain, the higher tier open deckers are gonna be in trouble, too.smokey12 Thanks this.

Just ran a pretty broad DAT search tonight, while struggling to find anything. There were exactly zero FB loads posted from the entire state of FL to the entire state of TN for the entirety of next week, M-F. Georgia is barely any better than that.
hallellujah and tommymonza Thank this. -

That is not due to a lot being hauled, it is due to more drivers sitting without a load.
I noticed the same thing today. And this afternoon my DM called to tell me that freight just tanked suddenly.
No loads, but a lot of drivers out here.
As more states shut down there will be less freight to move.
It will be the companies that can get the freight that is still moving, and they will survive.
It will be who can provide the most reliability with the lowest cost per mile.
And that will probably be the mega carriers.FoolsErrand Thanks this.
