it's a weekly run from kc area to oakland port delivery. then either empty container or some other backhaul like wine or something. so i guess the 6pm monday is to get on the ship in time.Upinsmoke Thanks this.

Thats a hell of a run. 3700 miles plus wasting time waiting around on both ends, certainly the port.
No not possible with that OP schedule. Even with a unlimited truck it will only get you speeding tickets by logged average speed over state speed limits.
My personal solo limit is 3500 every 6.5 days into part of the 7th if necessary. As a team we can do 7000 coast to coast in about just under 120 hours provided the truck is governed faster than 63 and 335 minimum gallons of fuel for one fill in the USA to do it each way. The limits are based on HOS. That are not my personal maximum limits with a unlimited truck and heck with the old paper logs.
when dispatch gives me a trip to plan, I plan 40 mph, plus 20% over pay miles total. That gives me a good idea if its doeable or a fantasy on their part and then proceed with yes or no. (And change appt or repower with team on the way...)
Finally weather and winds matter. We are in tornado season so periods of time must be spent in waiting those out. The next round after tonight for Arkansas is the weekend. Nothing too violent though, yet. We had a couple two days ago. Hurt some people and did some damage in the NE bootheel.Last edited: Apr 9, 2020
Upinsmoke, truckdriver31 and hallellujah Thank this. -
I agree with @rachi about the Port of Oakland. Unless you know your way around, all the lines to get into, what lines to avoid, and the paperwork game, you could easily spend the whole day there. It's fast paced, busy, and it's confusing.
Most drivers either don't speak English or don't want to be bothered by a rookie and they'll pretend not to understand you.
We've hauled out of Oakland many times but we finally got smart and quit going there. None of our drivers complained, either.rachi, Upinsmoke, truckdriver31 and 1 other person Thank this. -
lol they dont believe you can get a log speeding violation.Upinsmoke, hallellujah and x1Heavy Thank this.

I don't believe it myself either. HA....
