Its because of the axle setback on the trailer, a rig backed in does not need to block part of the asile since the trailer can hang over the planter.alds and Wasted Thyme Thank this.

@FLtoOKBound
Like my wagon, it makes really no difference weather you nose in or back in. Pretty much the same length as you can't over hang the tail much past the curb. Maybe 20".? Heck, some curbs are so high, the icc hits it & you can't overhang at all..
Now if it were a closed tandem, not a spread, I'd be able to push the tail maybe 5' to 7' past the curb, if it's a low curb..
& I have to be very careful, as my mud flaps are easily torn off. Almost got them here..
Wasted Thyme, TripleSix, Deere hunter and 2 others Thank this. -
Thing is those that have only pulled sliding tandams assume every trailer is like that

Again, you assume we're talking about parking in the party row.
I've gone Kulwicki in the main row. 360 degrees of asphalt. So trailer hang doesn't matter.
I've also done it in spots where there's a soft shoulder and could pull through until my fan starts chopping up vegetation.Wasted Thyme Thanks this. -
What ever no argument, I have seen drivers back into trucks driving by on numerous occasions over the years. In general there will always be someone to argue the exception. It is safer to back in while you know what going on around you than to back out 10 hours later.

Some here seem confused on whether or not I'm worried about a truck sticking out too far. That was never my point. Looks like you get it Mr. Joints
