One hit wonder..... Trying to discredit company. I got no respect for these individuals. If you are looking into Estes, the Good section has an up to date account of their doings.

Yea they offered me a job then sent an email that something was found in my MVR then it turned out it wasn’t something bad and called me 2 weeks later if I wanted the regional combination job which means go to work for someone that’s sick , vacation or just didn’t come in to work. I just took another job keeps me super busy for the mean time until I decide when to be a owner operator and work out the local ports. They probably would have laid me off with LTL being slow with this #### virus.

Estes doesn’t lay off drivers. Sorry. This isn’t Old Dominion.
To the OP, an Estes p&d driver quit his job for Old Dominion awhile back. As it turned out, Old Dominion told him “things are looking good; You should be able to start next week,” and the driver quit Estes expecting a job with OD.
Sadly, Old Dominion never told him he had the job 100%, and someone more qualified took the job. So, the driver came back to Estes, but of course, he lost seniority.JadeLove Thanks this. -
Estes dont need to laid off drivers, they usually leave when driver dont make money i.e city P&D.
I worked there and you cant survive working 32 hours a week, then again it varies by location.
The only folks making money is linehaul team drivers and extraboard. Even then there are drivers who runs get cut. Check out the Estes thread some of the fellas have a hard time getting out.
Overall Estes is an okay company theres just things that needs to improve, again im only sharing my experience at the terminal I was working from.LtlAnonymous, jtaran06 and cjbrents Thank this. -
Layoffs are most legal good faith way to reduce staff. Bottom feeder companies dont lay off. It might not be bad company if they dont lay off. But its a potential red flag.

Try out R&L, they love teams! They’re hard to come by..

When I hear words notice to driver employer especially OTR This scene plays out in mind.
Driver: I am giving my notice that I will be leaving you at such and such time.
Driver manager: okay hangs up, Okay people we need make this driver suffer to send him at least 1k miles away from home to find his way back.
Driver: I have a load it has me going the wrong way.
Driver manager: Don't worry you will get you home.
Driver at end trip: okay load delivered my 2 weeks almost up.
Driver manager: Yes we need you take the truck here 10 miles away to that terminal.
Driver: what I am nowhere near the house or truck.
Driver manager: Not our problem.
I hope this scene helps anyone thinking of trying this because this will likely happen.
As for work the team as long as one or both have more then 6 months I really don't see them having issues finding a better company.alds Thanks this. -
Husband and wife teams are manna from heaven. They're not going to have any trouble finding a place to work if this is indeed the case.

As far as extraboard and team, ESTES is the place for you. Every winter, however, unless you’re teaming, you will make 2/3 your normal check. So prepare in advance. Freight gets slow.
Estes did Furlough some drivers during this pandemic, but they all still have a job. Sure... they used vacation, plus unemployment, but they never lost their job. It was there waiting for them.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.
