Convoy rates are averaging below $2 per mile, some well under a $1 per mile. For all the hard working truckers I give this a thumbs down

Lost a bid today from kenosha,wi to elyria,oh which usually goes for 900 to 930 to some poor guy who picked that up for 520 $. Dont blame the broker blame the drivers who are driving rates dow. Parked my truck for good 4 weeks . Not risking my life for 1.30 a mile .
FoolsErrand, KB3MMX, alds and 2 others Thank this. -
The guy who took it for 520,it was his load home,
So he could park his truck too. Lol.
It was just a joke.
Brokers are gonna make a fortune this month.KB3MMX, D.Tibbitt, kay_ray and 1 other person Thank this. -
Simple supply and demand. It won’t even be 1.30 mile in a week or two. What are you going to do in a month or two when rates are still this bad? Keep it parked? How long is that savings going to last when you could still be out generating $8k + net after fuel even at those garbage rates?
-
If i have to i will park it for a year drop my insurance down to comprehensive. Get a local job home everynight in food industry easy (25 to 27$an hour ).Till the rates get back to where they should be .wont work for fuel .401-Alex, alds, Sirscrapntruckalot and 2 others Thank this.

And do you really think the brokers that have contracts with shippers /load i.e most of them get effected by supply and demand .they still get paid the same contracted amount but they keep more when you pick it up for 1.30 a mile .
-
Can you share your math how you can net $8k plus with the garbage rates?Dale thompson, KB3MMX, bryan21384 and 6 others Thank this.
-
You mean, on monthly basis?
Fuel alone is 35-40% of all costs, so if you keep running at this rate for too long, there won't be much left from that 8K either, other costs will catch up quickly.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
I think Truckers should go on Strike!!! I Read in the 1970s they did it but when they tried Unionizing Trucking it mess Things Up. But It’s Really Time Us Truckers Let the World know how we feel!!
401-Alex Thanks this. -
There have been many attempts to strike, unionize and on and on, I don't recall one that was a success. Drivers were shot and killed for nothing!
Right now the world is upside down, and the trucking business is also upside down, rates are extremely low, although some are making a living, others are drowning.
Experience with load boards and having relationships with brokers makes a HUGE difference. Not a time I'd wanna start fresh in the trucking business.
