I consider this a very dangerous time with money. I also consider this a opportunity.
I stay up nights now thinking of what should be done. And in the end resolved even that question. All I can do is think back to the morning of 9-11 and we were told that we are more than welcome to sit home on full unemployment however long until they replace the destroyed payroll. We had savings that day. So we continued to roll high dollar medicines almost two months before payroll finally came in.
If one person is in poverty, fixed income or otherwise challenged financially and has made it this far, then when it begins to rain money for whatever reason should not be a time to essentially hookers and blow as it were. It would be all gone by morning light. Trust me. Poof.
Then again you can look at the list of things that need to be done with money and it's all gone by Lunchtime. Shucks.
Oh wait. You have family and people to help out because they get nothing for one reason or another. All gone by Dinnertime Shoot.
You can be good or you can be bad. Your choice. If I was going to get infected and die under a tube in two weeks or less I think hookers and blow would be a memorable event.
Very tempting. But what good is it?
Whats really disturbing is that in the past troubles with the People or Nation which has it's economy destroyed or threatened I don't hear of these kinds of monies from heaven on this scale. Is it so bad that we are closed for a couple of months at best? Just open everything up again with a modified behavior and let Society gain the immunity it needs.
Maybe the workers have their hours cut or otherwise modified in less work so that 1200 comes to nothing at all.
I am ignoring the small business side at the moment on purpose. The very big banking in America is essentially doing whatever they can not to be caught holding defaults that are happening on a truly massive scale. Would I buy a brand new car for 100 dollars because the dealer cannot afford to keep his inventory anymore?
UGH. Keep in mind that my position is one in which we don't really need anything right now because we have spent the last 5 months making ready when China first got sick. And at the same time that clipboard ledger pad calls me a liar with the statement of not needing anything.
In a way I am happy I am not trucking. There would be so many medicine loads going out, more miles than a team can run in a week. Just keep 330 gallons of fuel flowing every 30 hours or so. Worry about the pay later. And it wont be enough.
At some point we are going to have a hell of alot of trucks needing shop work. You cannot run them that hard over a month now without paying the piper in some way.
Thats one of the reasons my ledger pad is telling me to arrange additional stocks for shortages that must come within 4 weeks. Everything points that way.
And so. IF Uncle Sam thinks the panic is over? Yes hes half right. But he is not yet aware of the couple thousand in additional purchasing I have planned to execute within 6 days of careful traveling in several counties. Once thats finished and taken care of, you will need even more trucks to deliver and replace what I and many others are buying over a long period of time.
There is a small Amish Store that has very good basics when in season and manages to have other good things even in winter. Boy do I have plans to buy the place. (Sorta. might as well with the list I have in hand for them....)
I don't think our current JIT non warehousing model is made for that kind of sustained buying on our part. But we are going to find out arent we?
On the other hand, I toss it in the safe and let it rot while I run off what we have on hand. Its going to be a long time before I can be bothered to spend a dollar. If we still had any place to spend it in.truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
Someone was saying the other day about another big run on the food supply when that money hits. Maybe so, but I am expecting many people will be running out and buying flat screen tvs and video games. IMO.Rideandrepair, Sirscrapntruckalot, truckdriver31 and 1 other person Thank this.

We expect that too. However it is what it is. Always a range of behaviors with people when you shower them with money.
We are already leaning to the opposite of what the stimulus is for. Building onto savings against really difficult times in the future OR a opportunity when all of this is wrapped up one way or another a year from now. In other words our spending is zero outside the electric bill and gasoline etc and just the necessary foods and consumables. That usually adds to savings in a massive way.
We already have the little wants like the 32 inch tv and all of that. Considering that the crappy dish has been cut from it and learned to transfer internet content to it away from broadcast TV is a bonus. If we bought any electronics etc it would be a replacement item.
Another reason we avoid buying big stuff during announced money events like this is that the criminal element sees the big discarded 50 inch plasma TV at the curb marking that house as a target. It will bring alot of money at the pawn shop no questions asked.
Incidentially that was how we got our big screen. They retailed for 1000+ and 10% taxes in 2007-2008 economic crash when the rich discarded them at the pawnshop. We come along and found it complete in mint condition with manuals and factory remotes etc. Its still there and running well without defect to this day for something like 200 cash. That was a oppertunity.
Last year our 2001 era small TV burned up. We replaced it with a smart 32 inch TV for a little over 100 dollars retail. Its amazing. Equal to screen view and a generation or two smarter than mine. Which is a double edged sword.
This economic situation in our Nation is three to four times larger than all of world war two combined and bigger than all 230 years worth combined in 6 weeks. With more trillions pending. Makes me sick in a way to see it.truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
i checked my account this morning and had nothing. My friend got $1200 deposited last night at 10:30pm, on Easter of all days...truckdriver31 and Rideandrepair Thank this.
