thank, interesting.
i have no idea about market preference, used truck market, authorised aftersales, aftermarket parts, availability of original parts from other sources, used parts and replacement parts, mechanics etc.
but be careful if you are going for a scania. that is NOW great truck for sure, quality, performance, fuel economy and all other features. but be careful due expensive parts, aftermarket parts almost dont exist, scania has huge amount of special tools so you cant do much alone (or your average mechanic).
if scania and volvo wants some market they will do all to get it, they both have strange market pricing, from market to market their trucks can be like 20% price difference. volvo do this for many years, scania started like 4-5years ago due vw involvement. vw want big numbers and they are offering good prices, they give great leasing conditions, included maintanance, extended warranty....etc all to get you as a customer.
after few years scania trucks might become crap since they will be sharing lot of same components with man (vw think they can do what they did in car world - saving and badge engineering), you buy car because of emotions, you buy truck because of money. they will soon release common engine for whole group, they allread offer 9L 330-400hp engine in man which is going to be available in scania soon.
strange that international is more expensive than premium eu trucks.
man, renault and iveco would not be greatest choice for your weights/roads, they simply dont hold well against this conditions.
foton i have tried had fastgear gearbox from china.
does daf come with euro or american driveline?
if i remember right you have only german MB? in chile they offer brazilian range too.
girl i met told me that they have like 7 specification of MB that they sell, for example mining tipper, road tractor, concrete mixer, sugar cane tractor etc. that customers dont request things like here, here we change specification 3-5 times before truck get sold, sometimes even latter.
there is no bhrat benz ( or rebadged into big fuso?)
who sells foton? daimler too?

you say 440-480hp , that is about what in europe we would use for 40t.
52t with 400hp and shifting manual eaton is not what would i like to do whole daydaf105paccar Thanks this. -
The DAFs came with Euro driveline and are assembled in Netherlands, as far as I've saw, with the advantage of having Euro VI engines, without EGR, DOC and DPF to comply with Euro IV.
On the Mercedes hand, we have both lineups, the Brazilian/Argentinean from the Vito up to the Atego, and the German Actros/Arocs. They have a very good package to offer, but their support infrastructure is quite bad. Also they offer the Fuso, but only some buses and the Canter.
The Foton Heavy Duty lineup is offered and backed up by the same dealer of International (Navitrans S.A.) which is also the authorized service center of Cummins and one of the biggest service network along with Kenworth de la Montaña and Casa inglesa Kenworth.medioker, daf105paccar, spsauerland and 1 other person Thank this. -
