How do company drivers make good money ???

To run your turck with illegal logs is just plain....oh I dont know, like thinking its ok to drink and drive; IMO.

Everyone complains about the way truckers are treated BUT they still run illegal and sometimes encourage others to do the same. IF truckers would ONLY run by the HOS, shippers and truck companies would HAVE to change the way they do things........IF you dont want to be part of the solution at least TRY not to be to big a part of the problem.

 

if you're 100% honest ALL THE TIME, you're not gonna make squat. "log it as you do it" reeks of something to where i may not make jack squat, and come out even after the week is over.

 

Well then QUIT working for CPM and go to by the load...QUIT running illegal and the industry WILL have to change.

My hubby does just fine and he DOESN'T run illegal

I get paid on a split of hourly and percentage, for the last 8 yrs I've avg'd $53,500 gross, this year I might (crosses fingers) break $50,000 gross.

 

How do you make good money as a company driver?

Go wherever they want to send you, don't complain, become known as the go to driver that they can give loads to without complaining or whining...

You basically have to give your soul to the company and run like a coyote...and the money will come...

When I use to leave the house I would tell them to 'send me to the moon'...my checks were always good...

I knew one driver who got hired...had been there for one day, and was already refusing loads...and was sitting...dispatchers and planners don't want to bother with drivers like that...

Another driver parked their truck 60 miles from the consnee cause he ran out of hours...they called me to finish the deliver...

I don't really run over the road anymore...but I know how the game is played...
I know longer have the 'drive' or 'love of being in a truck' to drive like a coyote anymore...but when I did...I did well...

at the beginning, i made a serious effort in running 100% legit. it wasn't working out too well. i was also sitting a LOT. my paychecks were no more than a net income of $300. yes, you read that correctly. it's quite sad. going somewhat illegitimate, things are better but not by much. on a side note, i've noticed that since i run using questionable methods, i don't sit nearly as long as most drivers. since i'm on the go most of the time, i can pretty much idle the crap outta the truck and not have to worry about ever reaching the 40% over-idle mark. still though, i know if i get myself into a DOT reportable mess up, it's my butt. i won't go blaming anybody for it. i'll take full responsibility for everything.
