Age limits on trucks!

    I understand the idea, but think it’s crazy that if you have an older truck that’s in as good a condition as a newer one. Why company’s hesitate at leasing you on. The new ones break down to. Have seen a lot of older trucks in better condition than newer ones. I mean if you pass inspection what’s the difference. IDK

    No different than a old broken down driver who wants just the rusted out old two stick iron in the far back corner pile of the lot that has not been touched in 10 years.

    That is literally the one question I ask of companies. What is the oldest truck you still have title and plates to? Show me. They think Im crazy. And gently shoo me off their property.

    There still are companies that will allow older trucks. I think Mercer and Landstar both do, for example. Many smaller companies too.

    You can't tell the arm chair college educated office jockeys that. Oh and if you find a driver running a brand new truck chances are the driver is just as new too.

    I believe mercer leases a 2000 and up.Im likely going back to mercer due to this.Sick of this regen b.s..

    Good condition is subjective


    Just because you pass an inspection doesn't mean it meets the condition it has to be in to be safe.


    I can you that one major carrier who has o/o in their fleet why ...

    Because the downtime for older trucks is longer when they are in an accident because the owner can't few parts.

    You can get parts for the older trucks and motors just fine, that's a cheap excuse, most want you on Elogs now which is the bigger issue.
