Paving compaines like park paving, and standard general have been looking for operators, lube and fuel trucks. Head down arse up all summer, made in the shade on the beach for the winter.

I deal with an international dealer in Sherwood park as we own 6 international buses. They have cut hours, but are still working. Parts department is on half staff.not4hire, FerrissWheel and AModelCat Thank this.

I can legally work and live in the States on account of my ‘Indian’ status. I’ve been carrying all my ppw for the past year debating when will be a good time to find a social security office and get my card. I may even do it this trip....but then wonder if I should have work lined up first....egg or chicken?
now there’s this pandemic which, other than when in a truck, will prevent me from coming across the border in my vehicle to work/look for a job.
but yea, who’s best to call up for when things seem more clear? I flatbed now—two years experience although spread out over five—the last year has been solid though. The only real caveat is I basically live in the truck with my dog so, is Swift pet friendly?G13Tomcat and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
Yes, with a 30$ deposit I think. No problem with pets.
But with two year. Id try JK Hackl or Lonestar or something. Maybe combined transport. Just saying there are better opportunities available for someone with two years. Just depends on where you live and what you want to do.
But if you just wanna chase freight you could do worse.dancecanyon Thanks this. -
Cool! Thank you, I hadn't heard of JK Hackl before although they look great. I also went down a rabbit hole while doing some research on those you mentioned....Palletized Trucking out of Houston looks really interesting.
I'm fairly open to where I'll go....although I have a strong leaning towards more south; I find the place fascinating and also will likely just live in an RV park between trips. I really love the road life and go 'home' maybe twice a year; at least, that's all I made it home last year. This year, I probably won't go home at all because of this virus thing and I live on an Island which makes an outbreak there super problematic.
I see that the US administration is threatening to cut off all immigration for this pandemic....so, we'll see what shakes out. Technically, I"m already a citizen just one without a social security number...either way, there's plenty of time to get more experience and line up as many ducks as `i can.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
Idk canada very well. But searcy trucking they out of winnepeg and run down to the states . Got terminal in ohio and another place i forget. Anways they pull flatbed , steps. Rgn, b trains ,conestogas extendo steps and flat , low pros and just about every other specialized open deck and specialized stuff , and heavy haul.. Think they require 1 year experience . Not sure

Sorry to hear this... guess $0 oil was a little to much. Wouldn’t you make more as a mechanic...?G13Tomcat and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
Grain and fertilizer is still steady.
However, my sister in Edmonton does commercial insurance. Every customer with spare oil patch trucks is telling her that they are looking to haul grain and fertilizer.
So it could be a real blood bath this summer.not4hire and FerrissWheel Thank this.
