OK so first impressions of CRS. Weird that we had only one shuttle, but got here in one piece. Another thing CR England is our neighbor. But so far everyone here seems cool. Will let everyone know how everything goes tomorrow. Catch ya'll on the flip side.

Hey chipper, after you get enough experience under your belt to get hired at pride you should check them out. Great company if you live in or near SLC because they try to get the trucks thru the yard every week

I may have to look into them. Thanks:biggrin_255:

I just made it to CRS... checked into one of their little rooms!
They do have internet here... it's pretty slow though.. comparable to dialup, just FYI for everyone else!

I just left there and am heading to orientation tomorrow morning.

    Just some things:

    Listen to the instructors. Seriously.
They do check your background, including your youth records. Reason being is because you're supposed to be able to get into Canada and they check that #### at the border. DO NOT LIE. It doesn't matter if its a week old, they will find it and you'll be on the first bus back home. We had a girl that had a shoplifting charge on hers and she was only there for a few hours the first day because she lied.

Expect your class to shrink by more than half. Most classes start at about 50 or so, my class only has 23 people left out of 47(and they said we're a big class). The last class had a normal amount to start out with but only 4 made it through. Its an accelerated course so don't spend hours in the game room playing pool - get in your room and read up on your CDL books because you will go to the DMV Wednesday morning to take your permit tests and you only get 4 chances to pass so you better know.

When it comes pretrip time get out there in the yard and practice pretrips.

The clutches on the Volvos are terrible, but they turn way better than the Freightliners so beware.

As far as backing goes, LISTEN TO THE INSTRUCTORS.

    Same way with driving.

If you have any questions just ask, I'll check this periodically.

Also, don't listen to the drivers in the lounge complaining about how the miles are short. If you'll listen they'll tell you why.

    "I don't take 300 mile loads"
"I dont do New York City"
    "I cussed my dispatcher out"

See why they don't get any miles? Disregard them.

    Pismo71 Thanks this.

You have to have a passport to get into Canada now, so that statement makes absolutely no sense. In addition, after you turn 21, if you really have done anything that gave you a youth record (like shoplifting), then the records are sealed (of course that is based upon fulfilling your obligations, etc., and it also varies from state to state.) If the person that went home lied about it, I seriously doubt it was just a juvi charge, unless like I said she never did what she was supposed to and now still has a warrant out.
