Hey, I prefer a shifting myself. Especially off the line and when backing up. My original post was just to comment on how some guys act like driving a modern manual is some sort of amazing talent that only "real" truckers can do. I disagree with that. I think anyone that safely does the job is just as real as the next guy.

Maybe we can all post what we have.
Small car is electric doesn't even have gears.
Then i have a old but good Mercedes Vito (@haycarter and @98989 known those),think 5seater small van with a very big boot(i can fit 4 big truck tires in it easely)
    6 speed Manual.

Truck is a AMT.(As Tronic which is also called a ZF Freedomline iirc)
2 pedal cannot be converted to a manual.

    haycarter Thanks this.

your generation was not that good. new ones are great, drive close to normal car, great power (especially new 124) , auto gearbox is not really good, not even close to same gearbox on v-klasse, it rev it too much, too sensitive on gas pedal (downshift without reason), works like it is always fully loaded with trailer, and when you brake, it keep engine attached, and than you really feel 500nm fighting against brakes.
very practical to have if you own trucks, can go in tax system as it is N1. at 100mph make 24mpg (old gen 119 22mpg), not bad for 5500lbs van with 4x4 driveline and 18inch wheels

Right, and now they all can pay us less.

Werner said it years ago. Manual transmissions in trucks are “intimidating”, and we have to broaden the pool of potential pigeons... er, I mean “employees”.
