    One company was so bad that the top 25 senior drivers who were there forever and will die there in forever started jumping ship. Out of several hundred of us.

    IF THEY are getting the hell out... be right along with them. Several months later they were out of business.

    Let's face it. This industry is VERY heavily regulated. There are several sections of DOT regulations that cover the hiring process. If you are thinking about changing jobs at some point the new company is going to have to do a check. Regardless of if you allow it or not. Some are going to check drug testing history too. If you don't sign allowing these checks that will just round file your app. Overall this is a non-issue, not really worth worrying over. If you think the grass is greener (most of the time it ain't) over there go on and change jobs.

    Moose is right about checking .. That’s why you only apply to jobs you want after you’ve checked out company beyond what the recruiters tell you.

    YES! Centerline did that to me! they got confused about which employer was "current" which was nuts because i only worked for two companies ever over three years. My current employer called me and I played dumb and said they were one of the companies i considered when i found this job- they must be going through old emails? Idk. that was the end of it.

    I’m about two years into driving. I can honestly say I’ve driven my butt off the first two years. My first year I did 147,000 miles and took less than half the days I was eligible to take off. I ran through all the holidays it was never late once for any load. I wanted to prove myself and I did. After that, like any company they pissed me off a few times. I let them know I wasn’t happy. I applied to another company and yes, they were contacted. What happened? I got called in and offered a second year bonus and a raise it was three months premature. They didn’t want me to leave.

    This is truck driving, if you’re good and you run hard you’re making the company money and they are a business. Making the money is what makes them want to keep you. It’s a win-win, that’s how truck driving works. You make the company money and you make money

    and many times (happened to me), you get the newer equipment as it becomes available, AND better runs..!

    i was "on file" for work approval at Centerline, and a couple of other companies. not once did they call any employer i provided on my application.

    however, none of the driver-leasing companies such as Centerline, MTS, and a couple of others, had any work that i wanted to do, like for instance, work nights, or 3/4 day runs from New England to Tx, or New England to FL.

    in fact, i been retired since last spring, and up until the fall, i was still getting calls from the companies like Centerline to come to work. once i told them i no longer have my CDL, the calls stopped.
